American Airlines will soon begin a project to renovate and expand the capacity of its Admirals Club in Concourse D at Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport (DCA).

The project is scheduled to begin in early 2026, at which time the current space will be closed and will remain as such until the renovation and expansion are complete.

Here’s what you need to know.

Renovated Admirals Club With 50% More Seating

In early 2026, American Airlines will close its Admirals Club lounge located at Concourse D in Washington, D.C. (DCA) as it begins renovating the space and expanding its capacity. While the space in Concourse D is unavailable, Admirals Clubs in concourses C and E will remain open for eligible passengers.

When the renovations are complete, although the exact date is unknown, the lounge will span 10,000 square feet and boast a 50% increase in available seating. The new design will align with the airline’s latest ethos for new and renovated lounges, reflecting the lounge’s location in the nation’s capital and even boasting views of the U.S. Capitol and the Washington Monument.

“We’re proud to serve the Washington, D.C. market, and it’s essential that we have the lounge footprint to support all of our customers in this important hub,” said Heather Garboden, chief customer officer at American Airlines. “The redesigned Admirals Club lounge will provide ample seating, an upscale design, and elevated amenities that reflect the premium experience our customers deserve.”

The renovation of the Concourse D lounge follows a similar project for the Admirals Club in Concourse E, which reopened to eligible passengers at the end of 2022.
