In this weeek’s roundup, we’ll take a look at Delta’s super premium Airbus A321neos and improvements to Bluetooth connectivity, Frontier cutting ties with JFK, KLM increasing its flights to the U.S., changes to Eithad’s A380 destinations, and more.

Let’s jump in.

Delta Reveals Seat Map of Premium-Heavy Airbus A321neo

Delta‘s new A321neo will be one of the most premium-heavy short-haul aircraft in the world. Its first class cabin, comprising no less than 44 seats, will stretch from the plane’s nose all the way to the wings.

The unique configuration is just a temporary solution while Delta waits for this sub-fleet of aircraft to be fitted with Delta One lie-flat seats. Starting in May, the jets will be based at Atlanta (ATL), primarily replacing the Boeing 757 on key routes to Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Seattle (SEA).

Frontier Cuts Almost All Flights to JFK

It was with great fanfare that Frontier started flying to New York’s JFK back in mid-2024. An aggressive expansion of 10 routes followed its inaugural services from Atlanta and Las Vegas (LAS).

Less than 2 years later, high airport costs at JFK and insufficient demand mean Frontier‘s presence at JFK hangs in the balance. The only route that will remain as of the end of April 2026 is the nonstop service to Atlanta.

KLM Increases Flights to U.S. for Summer

KLM will offer more nonstop flights between the U.S. and Amsterdam (AMS) than ever before during summer. It’s doubling down on routes where it is the only operating airline.

For the first time in the airline’s history, the Dutch flag carrier will fly year-round to Miami (MIA) and San Diego (SAN), rather than just operating through the winter. And from March 29 until October 26, KLM will ramp its 4x weekly Portland (PDX) service up to daily.

You Can Fly The Residence All the Way to Bangkok From October

Only a handful of airlines still fly the behemoth A380. Of the remaining ones in the sky, Etihad‘s are famed for their exclusive 3-room suite called The Residence.

As of October, in time for the winter season, Bangkok (BKK) will join the carrier’s short list of destinations with London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Singapore (SIN), and Toronto (YYZ). With just 7 jets in its fleet, it’s likely Bangkok will replace one of the 4 cities it currently serves.

Hot Tip:

Instead of paying anything between $15-$30k to fly The Residence, the Etihad Guest loyalty program offers passengers booking in first class (with cash or miles) the opportunity to upgrade from 285,000 miles. That’s far from cheap, but it’s a considerably more accessible option if you want to have the most lavish experience that commercial aviation can offer.

American and United Save Brazilian Airline from Bankruptcy

Last week, we reported on the $100 million investments by American and United in the financially struggling Brazilian airline Azul. Less than a week later, these large cash injections have played a huge part in saving the airline from bankruptcy. The predominantly domestic carrier serves 2 airports in the U.S.: Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and Miami.

Remote Regional Airport Gets Flights Once Again

The small city of El Dorado, Arkansas, will welcome back a single air service on March 16. Contour Airlines will operate up to 3x daily flights from South Arkansas Regional Airport (ELD) to Dallas (DFW). Passengers can book interline tickets to connect seamlessly at Fort Worth to flights operated by Alaska, American, JetBlue, and United.

Bluetooth Connectivity Coming to More of Delta’s Fleet

Delta is bringing its inflight entertainment tech on a selection of widebody jets in line with what you’ll find on some of its narrow-body domestic fleet. The Atlanta-based carrier is testing Bluetooth connectivity on some Boeing 767s as part of a wider project to roll it out across the entire fleet.

Final Thoughts

From KLM offering more nonstop flights to Europe and Delta’s ultra-premium A321s to new routes for The Residence and an improved chance of Bluetooth connectivity when flying Delta, we have quite a lot to look forward to as February draws to a close.

On the other hand, Frontier’s exodus from JFK and the return of flights to El Dorado will probably go unnoticed for most. As for the saving of Azul, it will be interesting to see how its relationship with both American and United will progress.
