Recently, the Platinum Card^® from American Express had some big changes that saw quite a few new benefits being added to the card, in addition to an annual fee hike. One of those new changes was the addition of an annual $179 statement credit towards a CLEAR membership.

But now, it seems American Express is extending the same offer to select Amex cardholders through Amex Offers.

What Is CLEAR?

If you’re not already familiar, CLEAR uses your biometrics, like your face, iris, or fingerprint, to verify your personal identity, making it possible for you to speed through both airport and sports venue security.

This means that at the airport, you won’t need to wait in line for an ID check. In fact, you won’t even need to remove your ID from your wallet. After verifying your identity at a CLEAR pod, a CLEAR Ambassador will escort you through the dedicated CLEAR lanes to the front of the line of the TSA checkpoint.

Needless to say, this can be a big time-saver when traveling through the airport, even for those who already have TSA PreCheck, as having a CLEAR membership will allow you to jump to the front the TSA PreCheck line as well.

Free CLEAR Membership Through Amex Offers

So, if you don’t already have the Amex Platinum card, which cards appear to be offering a CLEAR benefit through Amex Offers?

As of now, it seems that targeted cardholders of either the American Express^® Gold Card or the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card are able to enroll in this offer.

Those who enroll in the offer and use that enrolled card to pay for CLEAR will get 100% back as a 1-time statement credit. Keep in mind that the offer expires on October 30, 2021, but your CLEAR membership is good for 1-year after activating, so you might want to wait until you have some upcoming travel to use the offer to fully maximize your free year of membership.
