Hyatt’s New Award Pricing Goes Live Next Week: Book These 8 Hotels Now

If you’ve been sitting on a stash of World of Hyatt points and debating whether to finally lock in that trip, this is probably your sign to stop waiting. Hyatt’s upcoming award chart changes officially go live on May 20, 2026, and several popular properties are about to get noticeably more expensive.

Some hotels are moving up categories entirely, while Hyatt’s new pricing structure will also introduce much steeper peak pricing. In some cases, award nights will jump by tens of thousands of points.

Here are 8 Hyatt properties to book now before higher redemption rates officially kick in next week.

World of Hyatt Award Changes for 2026

In case you missed it, World of Hyatt is making some of the most significant changes to its award chart starting May 20.

Beyond the usual category adjustments, which happen every year, World of Hyatt is also replacing its current 3-tier award pricing system (off-peak, standard, and peak) with a new 5-tier structure: lowest, low, moderate, upper, and top.

The biggest change? Some Hyatt hotels could now cost up to 75,000 points per night during peak travel periods.

In total, 112 Hyatt properties are seeing award pricing changes, with many of the most popular hotels moving up. Locking in award stays before May 20 could potentially save you thousands — or even tens of thousands — of Hyatt points on future trips. Here are just a few hotels I’d strongly consider booking now.

1. Andaz 5th Avenue

The Andaz 5th Avenue has always been one of my favorite hotels in New York City. I’ve stayed here multiple times over the years, both solo and with my family. The location, directly across the street from the New York Public Library and with Bryant Park just behind it, is hard to beat.

Unfortunately, this one is taking a hit. Starting May 20, the hotel could jump from 35,000 points per night to as high as 55,000 points during the busiest travel periods as it moves from Category 7 to 8. That’s a massive 57% increase for one of Hyatt’s most popular NYC redemptions.

If a New York trip is on your radar for later this year or even into 2027, I’d absolutely lock this one in before the hike.

2. Hyatt Regency Coral Gables

This is one of Hyatt’s hidden gems in South Florida. It’s close to Miami International Airport (MIA), but tucked away in the ritzy neighborhood of Coral Gables, where you can walk to great restaurants and shops while still being an easy drive to Brickell and Miami Beach.

The biggest issue here is that the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables is moving from Category 4 to Category 5. That means you’ll no longer be able to use a Category 1-4 Hyatt free night certificate here after May 20.

3. Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

This one hurts. I’ve stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando more than 10 times over the years, and I’ve celebrated my daughters’ birthdays while using this hotel as our home base for Disney trips.

For Hyatt loyalists visiting Walt Disney World Resort, this has long been one of the best Category 4 sweet spots in the program thanks to its massive pool complex, family-friendly atmosphere, and generally solid pricing.

It’s moving from Category 4 to Category 5, meaning those valuable Category 1-4 free night certificates will no longer work here after May 20.

4. Alila Mayakoba

The newly rebranded Alila Mayakoba in Mexico is another one I’d strongly consider booking quickly. Formerly the Andaz Mayakoba, the resort recently underwent a major renovation and repositioned into Hyatt’s more ultra-luxury Alila brand. With that comes a price hike.

The property is moving from Category 6 to Category 7, which means award nights that currently peak at 35,000 points per night could climb to 55,000 points under Hyatt’s new pricing structure.

Considering how expensive luxury resorts in the Riviera Maya can get during winter and spring break, this redemption may become much harder to justify.

5. Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino

For years, Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort Spa and Casino has easily been the most popular Hyatt redemption in Aruba. There are relatively few Hyatt properties on the island, aside from Secrets Baby Beach Aruba and Hyatt Place Aruba Airport.

I visited when my daughters were much younger. We loved the location directly on Palm Beach, the gorgeous pool grounds, and the consistently friendly staff.

Now, the property is moving from Category 7 to Category 8 — Hyatt’s highest standard award tier. That means redeeming Hyatt points will become less appealing after May 20, especially during peak Caribbean travel periods.

6. Park Hyatt London River Thames

Hyatt has positioned its Park Hyatt brand as more exclusive and premium lately, and this newly opened London property is a prime example of that shift.

Park Hyatt London River Thames is the only Park Hyatt property moving up in this round of changes, and the jump is substantial. Right now, you can still find nights starting around 25,000 Hyatt points.

Starting May 20, when the hotel jumps up to Category 8, the lowest redemption level jumps to 35,000 points per night.

London hotel prices are painful enough most of the year, so if this property is on your radar, I’d absolutely book before the new chart takes effect.

7. Hyatt Regency Lisbon

Lisbon has become one of Europe’s hottest destinations over the last few years. The Hyatt Regency Lisbon, which is actually Portugal’s first Hyatt Regency hotel, has quietly become one of the better Hyatt value redemptions.

Currently, award nights can start as low as 12,000 points per night. But once the hotel moves from Category 4 to Category 5, entry-level pricing will rise to 15,000 points per night — a 25% increase.

The hotel will no longer be eligible for redemptions of Category 1-4 Hyatt free night certificates, which is one of the biggest blows here.

8. Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya

This is probably one of the most in-demand Hyatt redemptions worldwide, and for good reason.

I tried booking the Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya for a Tokyo trip with my mom last year and could barely find award availability, even after constantly checking. It’s that popular, especially among families visiting Tokyo.

The location in Shibuya is phenomenal, and the rooms are surprisingly spacious by Tokyo standards. In fact, it’s one of the few Hyatt properties in Tokyo that can comfortably accommodate a family of 4, making it incredibly popular among families redeeming points.

Award nights already ranged from 17,000 to 23,000 points per night for a Category 5 property. Now, it’s moving up to Category 6, where pricing will range from 20,000 to 40,000 points per night.

For a Hyatt House, that’s a pretty wild increase, but demand for this hotel has been through the roof.

Hot Tip:

Cash rates at Hyatt House Tokyo Shibuya routinely top $400 per night, making it one of the best uses of Hyatt’s Category 1-4 free night certificates before the May 20 devaluation.

Final Thoughts

World of Hyatt has long been one of the most valuable hotel loyalty programs for points and miles travelers (and a personal favorite of mine). These upcoming changes sting a bit, especially at some of Hyatt’s most popular redemption hotels.
