JetBlue’s latest promotion lets you buy TrueBlue points with a 30% discount. This offer runs through August 18, 2026. At best, you’ll pay 2.26 cents per TrueBlue point.

Let’s look at the promotion details to see if it makes sense for your upcoming travel plans.

Buy JetBlue Points — Details

JetBlue is allowing customers to buy TrueBlue points with a targeted promotion through August 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET. We’re seeing a 30% discount, based on how many points you buy:

  • Purchase 1,000 to 2,000 points without a discount.
  • Purchase 3,000 to 200,000 points and get a 30% discount (2.26 cents per point)
  • Direct link to promotion

Once you factor in the 7.5% tax recovery fee, you can purchase a total of 200,000 points and pay $4,515. This price means you’ll pay just under 2.26 cents apiece per TrueBlue point.

You can purchase a maximum of 200,000 TrueBlue points per transaction. Keep in mind that JetBlue might show you a different offer than this 30% discount. Based on the terms of this sale, it seems like the best discount is 20% for those who’ve purchased TrueBlue points in the past.

Should You Buy JetBlue TrueBlue Points Right Now?

Depending on the bonus or discount available, it rarely makes sense to purchase JetBlue points. That’s because JetBlue TrueBlue is a fixed-value rewards program, meaning the number of points you need for a redemption is tied to the cash cost of the ticket.

In our experience, you’ll receive somewhere between 1.3 cents and 1.5 cents in value for your JetBlue points. Thus, purchasing JetBlue points at 2.26 cents per point is far more expensive than the average value of these points, and it won’t make sense for most people.

That said, if you’re very close to the number of points you need to make a specific redemption, and a small points purchase would put you over the edge, then purchasing points at these rates could provide solid value.

Maximizing JetBlue TrueBlue Points

JetBlue does offer some very high-value redemptions through its partners, such as Qatar Airways and, more recently, Japan Airlines. Purchasing JetBlue points to redeem for flights with these partners can offer significantly more value than 2.26 cents per point, especially when redeeming for business class flights. That’s not a guarantee, though.

Remember that JetBlue is a 1:1 transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards. It’s also a 5:4 transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards and a 5:3 transfer partner of Capital One Rewards. If you have points in any of these programs, you could easily top off your TrueBlue account with those, rather than buying them.

Final Thoughts

This promotion to buy JetBlue points could help you save money on your next trip, depending on how you redeem your rewards. Through August 18, you can buy points with a 30% discount, but this is a far cry from the last sale that ended just a few days ago. That promotion had points for 1.43 cents each.
