As the name suggests, the Capital One Travel Stays credit is valid on the Capital One Travel portal only. It’s specifically usable for hotel and vacation rental bookings on the platform with virtually no hoops to jump through. Whether you’re booking 1 night around that $300 mark or several nights, cardholders who snag this welcome offer can get a full $300 back on their statement credit.

Is This the Best Capital One Venture Card Welcome Offer?

We closely track welcome offers for many credit cards, including the Capital One Venture card. While there’s no way to know if (or when) a particular welcome offer will return, looking at the card’s history can help you decide whether the new bonus is really worth jumping on.

The current welcome offer, which includes 75,000 bonus miles and a $300 Capital One Travel Stays credit, is the best we’ve seen since May 2022. While the card has occasionally offered the same 75,000-mile bonus with a $250 Capital One Travel credit, this latest bonus offer delivers even more value for hotels and vacation rentals.

That said, we haven’t seen the Capital One Venture card’s all-time-high welcome offer since July 2021. At the time, applicants could earn up to 100,000 bonus miles, but reaching the full bonus offer required much more spending. Cardholders earned 50,000 miles after spending $3,000 in the first 3 months, then an additional 50,000 miles after spending $20,000 in the first 12 months.

Capital One Venture Card Overview

The pool of midtier credit cards is relatively small, and finding one with an annual fee under $100 can be harder than you might expect.

The Capital One Venture card opens up great travel redemptions through the Capital One Miles program. Cardholders can transfer their miles to a variety of Capital One transfer partners, including Air France-KLM Flying Blue, Japan Airlines Mileage Bank, and JetBlue TrueBlue.

Perhaps the biggest selling point of the card is the ability to earn unlimited 2x miles on all purchases, helping you rack up rewards quickly. There is an elevated bonus category of 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, as well as on eligible purchases made through Capital One Entertainment.

Additional travel benefits include up to a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck and a $50 property credit when booking a Lifestyle Collection hotel through Capital One Travel. The latter could be valuable if you book a Lifestyle Collection hotel and offset that cost with the $300 credit as part of the welcome offer.

Finally, the Capital One Venture card provides excellent travel insurance and no foreign transaction fees.
