The Citi Double Cash® Card is one of the most popular cash-back rewards cards thanks to its strong 2% cash-back rate (1% when you buy and another 1% when you pay) on all purchases with no limits to the amount of cash-back you can earn.

One downside of the $0-annual-fee card is that it usually doesn’t offer a welcome bonus — but that is no longer the case.

Here are the details of the Double Cash card’s current welcome offer.

New applicants will earn $200 cash-back after spending $1,500 on purchases in the first 6 months of account opening.

The cash-back on the card is earned in the form of Citi ThankYou Points, which can be redeemed for cash-back or transferred to select Citi ThankYou Rewards transfer partners, including JetBlue, Choice Privileges, and Wyndham Rewards. However, those with a premium ThankYou Point-earning card like the Citi Strata Premier℠ Card can pool their points together and access all of the Citi ThankYou Rewards partners.

Citi Double Cash Card Benefits

The Citi Double Cash card offers the following benefits to cardholders:

  • Uncapped 2% back on all purchases (1% cash back when you buy, plus an additional 1% as you pay for those purchases)
  • 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 18 months. After that, the variable APR will be 18.49% to 28.49%
  • $0 annual fee
  • Access to Citi Entertainment and Citi Merchant Offers

Card Redemption Options

While you expand your redemption options greatly by pairing the Citi Double Cash card with the Citi Strata Premier card, you still have some great redemption options by holding the Citi Double Cash card alone.

At a minimum, your welcome bonus would be worth $200 in cash-back, but you could also transfer those 20,000 points to JetBlue TrueBlue and receive anywhere from $260 to $300 in value in JetBlue fights.

You could even transfer your points to Wyndham Rewards where award nights start at just 7,500 points per night. Meaning after completing the minimum spend requirement and earning the welcome bonus on your card, you would have enough points for at least 3 free nights in these hotels.

Hot Tip: If you were to pair your card with a premium ThankYou Rewards card, you’d have access to the full gamut of Citi transfer partners that would allow you to redeem your Citi ThankYou Points for maximum value.

Final Thoughts

The Citi Double Cash card is truly a top-notch option and can provide quite a bit of value to cardholders. Now that it offers a welcome offer of $200/20,000 ThankYou Points, it is even better. If you’ve been considering adding the Citi Double Cash card to your wallet, now might be the perfect time to take advantage of this welcome bonus offer.
