Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.
If you have a Citi card, check your accounts for a Citi Merchant Offer for $20 back on Hawaiian Airlines.
While Amex Offers gets most of the attention, Citi Merchant Offers is trying to get in on the statement credits game, too.
Although much more limited (for now), there are some decent offers available.
Let’s take a look at this offer for Hawaiian Airlines that has been extended again.
$20 Back on Hawaiian Airlines
Targeted Citi card holders can get $20 back on a purchase of $200 or more with Hawaiian Airlines.
This is a pretty straightforward offer, although the wording seems to indicate that smaller purchases, combined to total $200 or more, might not trigger the offer.
Besides that, the only things to note are:
Registration is required
The offer expires on May 31, 2023
The offer is valid in the U.S. and U.S. territories
The offer must be booked directly with Hawaiian Airlines (not specifically stated, but generally required)
Like other offers, you should be able to stack this with partners like Rakuten.
If you were to book a $200 flight on Hawaiian Airlines, this would represent a 10% discount — not bad!
Initially launched to select cardholders in 2020, all Citi personal cardholders should now have access to Citi Merchant Offers in their accounts.
Citi Merchant Offers can be found in the offers section of Citi accounts where banking and balance transfer offers are located. The Citi Merchant Offers are currently organized by category, including Travel, Dining & Entertainment, Shopping, and Other.
The Hawaiian Airlines offer was located under Travel for my Citi Prestige® Card, however, as a data point, my wife was not targeted on hers.
Although Citi often takes the back seat to Amex and Chase, the bank has some solid travel cards, an underrated point currency, and now curated Citi Merchant Offers for most cardholders.
If you are going to be making a purchase of $200 or more with Hawaiian Airlines by May 31 and want to save $20, adding this offer to your Citi credit card is an easy way to save.
Of course, if your ticket is less than $200 (flights between the Hawaiian Islands are often around $50), or much more than $200, you will want to weigh your options with other cards you might have in your wallet.
The $20 is nice, but don’t forget about cards that might earn you more points on airfare or offer travel insurance that your Citi card might not — unless you have the Citi Prestige card!
The information for the Citi Prestige® Card has been collected independently by Upgraded Points and not provided nor reviewed by the issuer.
