Update:

An earlier version of this story said that additional cards were affected. This story has been updated after clarification from Citi directly.

Citi’s points transfer options are different on credit cards with an annual fee than on those without an annual fee. Now, they’re going to be even more different.

Presently, those with a premium Citi card — meaning any card with an annual fee — can transfer ThankYou Points to JetBlue at a 1:1 rate, while those without an annual fee transfer points at a 1:0.7 rate. However, those with the no-annual fee Citi ThankYou® Mastercard® will lose JetBlue as a points transfer option entirely, starting in September.

If you have this card, here’s how this change will affect you.

Citi Altering JetBlue Points Transfers

What your Citi credit card’s points redemption options are depends on whether your card has an annual fee.

Those who have a card with an annual fee — such as the Citi Strata Elite℠ Card or Citi Strata Premier® Card — have access to the full list of Citi’s points transfer partners. Plus, they have access to the best points transfer rates with these partners.

Those with no-annual fee cards — like the Citi Double Cash® Card, Citi Strata℠ Card, or Citi Custom Cash® Card — can access a smaller list of transfer partners and find lower points transfer rates on these partners. The same holds true for the Citi ThankYou card, which is closed to new applications.

As of September 20, 2026, those with the Citi ThankYou card will lose access to JetBlue TrueBlue. Transfers are available until September 19 at the current 1:0.7 rate.

The following information is showing in some cardholder’s accounts, as first discussed in a Reddit thread:

“Important update: JetBlue will no longer be a Points Transfer option effective September 20, 2026. This change will not affect prior JetBlue Points Transfer transactions.”

Those who have other Citi cards aren’t affected by this change.

Other Ways To Earn JetBlue Points

If you’ve been transferring your points to JetBlue, you can continue to transfer Citi points to TrueBlue through September 19. After that, these cardholders need to look for new paths to earning JetBlue points.

There are 3 options for those who are affected:

  • Get a JetBlue credit card to earn TrueBlue points directly.
  • Upgrade to a a different Citi credit card to preserve points transfers.
  • Consider a card from another issuer.

On the latter, these points transfer to JetBlue:

Of these, Chase and Wells Fargo are the best, given their 1:1 transfer rates.

Final Thoughts

As of September 20, Citi will remove JetBlue as a transfer option for Citi ThankYou cardholders.

This doesn’t affect those with other Citi credit cards, luckily. If you are affected, you have a few options if you still want access to JetBlue TrueBlue points.
