Are you familiar with Virgin Atlantic Flying Club? If not, you should be. Although it’s not in an airline alliance quite yet, the airline still has plenty of partners and excellent redemption opportunities. Now, Citi has launched a new promotion allowing cardmembers to transfer their Citi ThankYou Points to Virgin Points with a 30% bonus.

Let’s take a look at the details of this offer.

Offer Details

Citi ThankYou Points typically transfer to Virgin Points at a 1:1 ratio. With this promotion, you’ll be able to transfer them over at a 1:1.3 ratio.

Be aware that you must transfer by 11:59 p.m. EST on October 15, 2023.

This puts Citi at the top for Virgin Atlantic transfer partners, which include American Express Membership RewardsBilt RewardsCapital One Miles, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy. All of these, with the exception of Marriott Bonvoy, transfer over to Virgin Atlantic at a 1:1 ratio. Marriott Bonvoy, meanwhile, transfers at a 3:1 ratio with a 5,000-mile bonus for every 60,000 points you transfer.

Is It Worth It?

The short answer is a resounding “yes!” Virgin Atlantic Flying Club has some of the best redemptions around, including the ability to book ANA’s business class “The Room” for just 45,000 points one-way.

You’re not just limited to airline redemptions, however, as points accrued in the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club program can be transferred directly to Virgin Red once you’ve linked your accounts. These Virgin Points can then be used for a variety of different purposes.

For example, in the past, Virgin Red has run a promotion allowing you to book a cruise with Virgin Voyages for as few as 100,000 points.

The cash cost of these cruises tends to be around $5,500 — meaning you’d be redeeming those Citi points at a rate of 7.88 cents each. Considering we value Citi points at just 1.6 cents each, this has been an amazing deal that we see pop up every so often, so keep your eyes peeled for a future version of it!

Final Thoughts

This is an excellent promotion from Citi allowing cardholders to transfer their ThankYou Points to Virgin with a 30% bonus. Whether you’d like to redeem them for a business class suite or aboard an adults-only cruise, there’s no reason not to take advantage of this offer. If you plan to do so, just be sure to do it before October 15, 2023.
