Delta Air Lines will boost its Seattle (SEA) hub next year by adding a transcontinental flight to its route map.

Beginning in May 2026, the carrier will add a nonstop route between Seattle (SEA) and Philadelphia (PHL), giving travelers more options to travel between the important West Coast hub and one of the nation’s largest cities.

Here’s everything you should know.

Delta Launching Nonstop Seattle-Philadelphia Route in May

On May 7, 2026, Delta will begin flying nonstop between Seattle (SEA) and Philadelphia (PHL), giving travelers another option for traveling across the country without a connection. The flights will be operated by Delta’s Airbus A321neo aircraft.

According to reporting from AirlineGeeks, Delta stated that the addition of Philadelphia to the airline’s Seattle route network has been long-requested by both business and leisure travelers alike.

In addition to the all-new Philadelphia route, Delta will boost service on a couple of key routes from Seattle. Ontario, California (ONT) will increase to 4 daily flights, and San Jose (SJC) will be bumped up to 5 daily flights.

Delta will compete with 2 airlines when it launches its Seattle-Philadelphia route. American Airlines, which has a hub in Philadelphia, and Alaska Airlines, which also has its main hub in Seattle, offer nonstop service on the route.

At the time of writing, the new Delta nonstop service is not bookable on Delta’s website or Google Flights. We expect flights to be added soon, so if you’re interested in booking, keep an eye out on both sites.

When flights do become available, you can book in cash or with Delta SkyMiles. While redeeming SkyMiles is usually a poor value, Delta occasionally surprises us with competitive rates on domestic routes, so it’s best to compare pricing before committing to a booking.

If you do find a decent deal with SkyMiles, remember you can transfer your American Express Membership Rewards points to Delta at a 1:1 ratio. We don’t usually recommend doing this, but if you’re just short of a redemption, transferring a few thousand miles over is not a bad idea to give your balance the boost it needs to book a flight.

Final Thoughts

Delta is adding an important new route from its growing Seattle hub. Philadelphia is one of the nation’s largest and most important cities, so it makes sense that Delta would add it from its West Coast hub. Once Delta launches this route, 3 airlines will compete on it, so it will certainly be interesting to see how each performs on this transcontinental route.
