American Airlines and Southwest Airlines have long held a dominant presence in Texas. That’s because their headquarters are located in Fort Worth and Dallas.

Today, however, Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines announced plans to expand its operations in Texas by adding new nonstop service from Austin (AUS) to 5 destinations: Panama City, Florida, Indianapolis, Memphis, San Francisco, and Tampa.

Let’s look at Delta’s present plans for growth in Austin, the state capital.

Delta Launches New Nonstop Options to and From Austin

This past summer, Delta launched additional flights to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) from 8 hubs and focus cities.

Now, Delta is reinforcing its commitment to Austin (and Texas as a whole) by expanding its operations to meet passenger demand, announcing daily nonstop service to 5 new cities starting in March.

Starting March 9, 2025, Delta will inaugurate flights from Austin to Panama City (ECP) with daily service, perfect for Spring Break travel to the white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle.

In addition, in May and June, the carrier aims to introduce a new daily service from Austin to Indianapolis (IND), Memphis (MEM), San Francisco (SFO), and Tampa (TPA).

“Delta has made its commitment to Austin known, and these new routes and the 55 peak-day departures planned for Summer 2025 reaffirm that,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning. “This is on top of the already 20% seat capacity increase we put into service in April, connecting Austin to new destinations in major corporate and leisure markets both within Texas and outside the state — onward throughout our global network.”

Delta will operate flights from Austin to Panama City, Indianapolis, and Memphis on an Embraer ERJ-175. Flights to San Francisco and Tampa will be on an Airbus A220-300.
