Looking for a cheap way to get to Europe? Whether you’re interested in exploring Denmark or simply want to springboard off to a different country, we’ve found some amazing rates for flights across the pond this spring and fall.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Fare Deal — Details

These routes come courtesy of 2 different airlines: Icelandair and Play.

  • Class: Economy
  • Routes: New York (JFK/SWF), Boston (BOS), Washington D.C. (BWI), Atlanta (ATL), Denver (DEN), and Chicago (ORD) to Copenhagen (CPH)
  • Dates: February 2023 to May 2023, August 2023 to December 2023
  • Rates: As low as $299 round-trip

The cheapest rates we found come from Icelandic low-cost carrier Play, whose fare sale uses promo code PLAYLOVE to save 20% on flights. Here’s an option from New York (SWF):

You’ll also find options from Baltimore (BWI), although you’ll need to pay a bit more:

If you’d prefer to fly out of New York (JFK), Icelandair also has cheap options:

Although the peak summer season isn’t available at these prices, you’ll still find some relatively low costs outside of June and July, so it’s worth taking a look around.

Best Ways To Book

If you’re looking to fly with Play for less than $300 round-trip, you’ll want to book directly with the airline. This means that the cards you’ll want to have on hand will be something like The Platinum Card® from American Express, which earns 5x Membership Rewards points on bookings directly with the airline or through AmexTravel.com (up to $500,000 in purchases per calendar year).

Otherwise, you can choose to book with an online travel agency (OTA), though a word of caution if choosing to do so. Online travel agencies can save you a few bucks here and there, but if you encounter any changes or cancellations they can be less than helpful. It’s nearly always better to book direct.

Still, if an OTA is the route you’d like to go, consider using a credit card with good earnings and travel insurance, such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, which earns 3x Ultimate Rewards on all travel purchases.

Final Thoughts

Want to head to Europe but don’t want to pay a lot of money? We’ve got you covered with flights for less than $300 round-trip, though you’ll need to pay extra for seats and bags. Otherwise, enjoy the opportunity to score a great transcontinental flight deal!
