Hey, college football fans: Do you want to see the big game in Miami? If so, you’re in luck, as one airline is adding flights down to the Sunshine State just for the big game.

Here’s what you need to know.

Frontier Increases Nonstop Flights to Miami for CFB Championship

Frontier Airlines will add a handful of nonstop flights from Indianapolis International Airport (IND) to Miami International Airport (MIA) for the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

The game, featuring the Indiana Hoosiers against the Miami Hurricanes, will take place at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on January 19.

Here’s a look at Frontier’s schedule for the big game:

  • January 17: IND to MIA, departing at 1:10 p.m. EST
  • January 18: IND to MIA, departing at 10:15 a.m. EST
  • January 20: MIA to IND, departing at 10:30 a.m. EST; MIA to IND, departing at 1 p.m. EST

“We can’t wait to bring more excited fans to Miami this month so they can cheer every touchdown as well as enjoy the amazing beaches, attractions and dining South Florida has to offer,” said Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design, Frontier Airlines.

Additionally, Frontier will also offer flights from Miami to Indianapolis on January 17 and 18, and from Indianapolis to Miami on January 20. The airline says flights are expected to sell out, so make sure to visit flyfrontier.com to book.

Is it Worth It?

While flights are available, you can expect to pay a pretty penny if you want to see the big game. One-way flights from IND to MIA on the 17th and 18th start at more than $400, and tickets booked with Frontier Miles or GoWild! passes aren’t available.

Of course, Frontier isn’t the only way to get between Indianapolis and Miami. American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Southwest Airlines are also running flights between the 2 cities ahead of the big game. However, these flights are even more expensive than Frontier!

If you want to save money, we recommend flying into Fort Lauderdale (FLL) and avoiding Miami altogether.

Although the airport is farther from Miami Gardens, it also offers the cheapest flights, with tickets starting at around $240 one-way.

For award tickets, the cheapest we’ve seen on the route ahead of the championship is with Spirit Airlines’ Free Spirit points, with one-way tickets starting at around 29,000 points.

Hot Tip:

If you’re looking to score last-minute availability, try running a search on the award travel search engine Seats.aero.

Final Thoughts

Frontier Airlines is adding several flights connecting Indianapolis and Miami ahead of the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

While these flights are much cheaper than what you’ll find on full-service carriers, if you want to see the big game, we suggest flying into nearby Fort Lauderdale or checking for last-minute award space.
