Google Flights Adds Real-Time Award Pricing to Flight and Hotel Searches

Google Flights is rolling out updates to its platform that more deeply integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the search and booking flow.

The highlight is that it’s introducing proprietary points-and-miles results into flight and hotel searches, allowing users to ask the platform to surface award prices for a given flight or hotel while using “AI Mode in Search.”

How do these new features work? Let’s take a closer look.

Google Flights Now Offers Award Pricing Searches

Google offers its so-called AI Mode in Search on Google Flights, allowing users to more easily compare travel options, see reviews, and craft itineraries directly in the platform. Now, it’s bringing real-time award pricing to flight and hotel searches.

As of today, August 27, 2026, users can use Google Flights in AI Mode and ask it to find pricing for a given flight using a specific rewards currency. For example, you can tell it to “find a flight from Chicago to Los Angeles using American Airlines AAdvantage miles departing on November 1 and returning November 5.”

Then, you’ll see real-time award pricing for all eligible flights using the currency you requested. From there, you can proceed to the airline’s website to finish your booking.

The same concept works for hotel searches. You can tell AI Mode where and when you’re traveling and what kind of hotel points you want to use. It will search participating partner programs and display award pricing for eligible hotels. Once you find a property that works, you can click through to the hotel’s website and book directly.

Award-search functionality is live as of today, August 27, but note that the number of participating partners is currently limited. Eligible airline programs include Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards and American Airlines AAdvantage. Google says in a press release that support for Air France-KLM Flying Blue, LATAM Pass, and Lufthansa Miles & More is coming soon.

On the hotel side, there’s support at launch for Choice Privileges, Hilton Honors, and Wyndham Rewards, while ALL – Accor Live Limitless and World of Hyatt will soon join the fray.

Note that Google Flights users have been able to see award pricing directly in search results for quite some time, thanks to the browser plugin Points Path. However, it has limitations due to the limited number of participating programs. Still, Google’s proprietary award search function is launching with even fewer, so it will be interesting to see which platform can ultimately cover a wider range of loyalty programs.

More Improvements to AI Mode

In addition to supporting real-time award searches, Google is beefing up AI Mode’s capabilities for flight and hotel searches. First, it now allows more conversational price tracking.

Users can simply ask AI Mode to track prices for a given flight route, and Google Flights will compile results from over 300 airline partners and third-party sites. It will send an email if flight prices change, and you can then book travel via your preferred method. Price tracking is now available in more than 180 countries and territories worldwide, according to Google.

Similarly, Google’s AI Mode aims to make hotel booking more efficient. You can tell AI Mode what you’re looking for in a hotel, and it will deliver a list of results that fit your preferences. From there, you can select your room type, confirm the cancellation policy, and pay for the stay via Google Pay.

This functionality has begun rolling out in the U.S. with support expected in “the coming weeks” for Booking.com, Choice Hotels, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

Final Thoughts

The most interesting news here is the new support for award searches directly within Google Flights. The initial list of participating programs is small, but more are on the way, and it stands to reason that Google will continue to add more programs over time.
