IHG has a sizable presence in Hong Kong and Greater China, and now, the chain is gearing up to reopen one of its best hotels in the region.
Here’s what you need to know about the grand reopening of the Regent Hong Kong.
Regent Joined IHG’s ‘Luxury & Lifestyle’ Portfolio in 2018
IHG announced on February 23 that the Regent Hong Kong would reopen for guests in June, as the hotel had been under construction for the past 2 years and underwent extensive renovations.
The exact number of guest rooms and suites the Regent will offer is unclear at this time. However, we do have some details about the room offerings, including a Classic Harbourview Room, which has views of the iconic Victoria Harbour.
The Regent will offer several dining options, including a steakhouse and buffet, and the Regent Hong Kong is just 30 minutes by car to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).
“The aura of the new Regent Hong Kong, its genius loci, has the magic to distinguish an urban oasis from a soundproof chamber, a retreat fr om a lodging, a haven from a hotel,” Tom Rowntree, Vice President of Global Marketing for Luxury Brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts said in a statement. “Regent Hong Kong is a true flagship for the brand.”
In fact, the Regent rejoins the more than 450 hotels already in the Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, a collection of upscale brands under the IHG brand. The Regent Hong Kong joins other hotels in the area, including Chongqing, Shanghai, and Phu Quoc. Other Regent hotels are slated to open, including in destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, and Kyoto.
Best of all, the Regent Hong Kong will participate in the IHG One Rewards program, which means guests can earn and redeem points at the property, although it’s unclear at this time how many points will be required for an award night.
This is exciting news, especially for IHG loyalists with plans to visit Hong Kong later this year. The city has no shortage of luxury hotel options, and the Regent should no doubt rejoin the list when it reopens in June!
