JetBlue’s new route between its Boston hub and Milan, Italy, starts today, and the carrier is offering some pretty attractive fares in the first few months of service.

Here’s what you need to know about the airline officially starting nonstop flights to its ninth European destination.

JetBlue’s Milan Route Takes Off Today

This evening, JetBlue will begin flying nonstop between Boston (BOS) and Milan (MXP), opening its ninth nonstop European destination from its New England hub.

The new nonstop flight will operate once daily on a seasonal basis according to the following schedule:

This is the latest in JetBlue’s attempt to compete with established legacy carriers on lucrative transatlantic routes. The carrier also serves Amsterdam (AMS), Barcelona (BCN), Dublin (DUB), Edinburgh (EDI), London Gatwick (LGW), London Heathrow (LHR), Madrid (MAD), and Paris (CDG) from the Boston hub.

To better compete with the larger carriers, JetBlue is offering attractive fares on the route, with flights starting at $399 one-way in economy, though availability at this price is somewhat limited. Mint fares start at $2,200 one-way.

Flights are operated by the carrier’s single-aisle Airbus A321 with both Core and Mint products available. In Core (economy), passengers can look forward to more generous legroom compared to other carriers, IFE screens, and complimentary Wi-Fi, snacks, and drinks.

Stepping up to Mint gets you a lie-flat suite with a sliding privacy door, JetBlue’s innovative premium dining experience, and more.

Hot Tip:

If you prefer to redeem JetBlue TrueBlue points for flights, economy seats start at about 35,000 points one-way, while Mint starts at around 160,000 one-way. Remember, though, that the TrueBlue program uses a dynamic pricing model, so award rates can vary significantly. We recommend booking through Qatar Airways Privilege Club or Etihad Guest, where you’ll find much more favorable pricing if seats are available.

Final Thoughts

Despite its ongoing financial struggles, JetBlue continues to expand its European network with the launch of new nonstop flights between Boston and Milan. If it finds success with this route, it has a real shot at disrupting the market — maybe even leading to lower fares.

Italy is an incredibly popular destination for American travelers, especially during the summer months, so we hope JetBlue’s combination of amenities and service will lead to the route being extended to year-round operations.
