JetBlue Changing Boarding Process on April 29 — With 2 Clear Winners in This Shakeup

If you’ve flown JetBlue lately, you know the boarding process has been complex, with a mix of named groups, lettered groups, and a few special categories thrown in for good measure.

Starting April 29, 2026, that’s all changing.

The airline is rolling out a streamlined boarding system that will use numbered groups from 1 through 8. JetBlue says its goal is to make boarding at the gate more intuitive and easier to follow during announcements. Along the way, the carrier is reshuffling who gets priority access.

Here’s a look at the new process and how it will work going forward.

Comparing JetBlue’s New Boarding Process to the Current One

Under JetBlue’s current boarding process (in effect through April 28, 2026), JetBlue boards passengers in this order: preboarding for customers with disabilities, followed by Mosaic 3 and 4 members and Mint customers, then Mosaic 1 and 2 members, and then EvenMore passengers as Group A.

After courtesy boarding for active military and families traveling with car seats or strollers, the rest of the cabin boards in lettered Groups B through F, with any remaining customers boarding last.

The new structure trims the clutter. Beginning April 29, the order will change to this setup, according to the airline’s website:

• Preboarding: Customers with disabilities and those needing extra time
• Group 1: Mosaic 3 and 4 members plus Mint customers
• Group 2: Mosaic 1 and 2 members plus EvenMore customers
• Group 3: JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard^® and The JetBlue Business Card holders, Blue Extra fares, and Early Boarding Perks You Pick selections (Blue Basic fares excluded)
• Courtesy Boarding: Active military and customers traveling with car seats or strollers
• Group 4: JetBlue Vacations customers and general boarding by seat location
• Groups 5-8: General boarding by seat location

A few shifts stand out. EvenMore passengers, who previously boarded as Group A after Mosaic 1 and 2 members, are getting bumped up into Group 2, where they’ll board alongside those Mosaic tiers. That’s a real upgrade for anyone paying for extra legroom.

JetBlue is also creating an entirely new Group 3 that recognizes its co-branded credit card holders, Blue Extra fare buyers, and TrueBlue members who select a Perks You Pick option for Early Boarding. Notably, Blue Basic fares are excluded from those Group 3 perks, which aligns with the fare’s stripped-down positioning.

Final Thoughts

JetBlue’s switch to numbered groups brings the carrier in line with how most major U.S. airlines already board their flights, and it should make gate-area announcements far less confusing for travelers who don’t fly the airline often.

The bigger story is who benefits. EvenMore customers come out ahead with an earlier boarding slot, and the new Group 3 gives co-branded cardholders another tangible reason to keep a JetBlue credit card in their wallet.
