Tourism is down in the U.S., and hotels in New York City are clearly feeling it.

As I’m going to New York this weekend, I was curious to see what hotel prices were like. I genuinely thought there might have been a bug with Hyatt’s website, as the rates were so low. I checked Hilton and Marriott’s websites, too, and couldn’t believe I found the same thing. From budget to mid-scale, and even some luxury hotels, there are some real bargains to be had.

Let’s take a look at what I found.

NYC Hotels From $170 per Night This Week

Hotels in New York are notoriously expensive. I remember last July, when I was in town for work, rates at the Hyatt Place Times Square on a Tuesday and Wednesday night were upwards of $450 per night.

Fast forward a year, and the average nightly rate for many hotels is less than $250, even during this peak August travel season. If you’ve written New York off for being too expensive, or begrudge paying hiked-up tourist prices for a stay in an average hotel, then now could be a good time to reconsider.

As there are quite literally hundreds of hotels in New York, I limited my search to Hilton, Hyatt, and Marriott properties in Manhattan. Below is a selection of the best-value options for each brand in locations that would appeal to those visiting town for a last-minute trip this coming weekend (August 15-17) to see the sights.

Most of the prices displayed don’t include the additional destination fee, unless otherwise specified.

How To Book

As these are cash stays, the best way to book would be using a credit card that rewards you for hotel spending.
