Aeromexico is expanding its U.S. operations with 2 new, exciting routes from Cancún (CUN) and Mexico City (MEX).

The airline just announced 2 new seasonal routes from its most popular hubs to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and San Juan (SJU). Let’s take a look at the news.

Aeromexico’s U.S. Expansion

Aeromexico is adding more U.S. flights, as the airline plans to begin flights to Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) from Cancún and Mexico City, respectively.

Mexico City to San Juan flights start on October 29, 2025, while flights between Cancún and Raleigh will operate from December 18, 2025, to April 12, 2026. Aeromexico will fly its Boeing 737 MAX 8 jet on both routes.

This jet is typically used on Aeromexico’s shorter routes and is flown to other U.S. destinations, such as Miami (MIA). Aeromexico’s 737 MAX is a 3-cabin aircraft with 16 Clase Premier, 18 AM Plus, and 132 economy seats.

Cancun will boost Aeromexico’s presence in Raleigh. The airline already flies daily between Raleigh and Mexico City. However, it’s joining a crowded market: Both Delta Air Lines and American Airlines fly seasonally between the 2 destinations.

However, Aeromexico will offer the only nonstop flights between Mexico City and San Juan when that route launches.

How To Book

Although these new routes won’t begin until the fall, flights are available for bookings. We’re seeing flights as low as $410 round-trip in economy or $820 in business from Raleigh. Tickets are slightly more expensive from San Juan, with economy fares starting at around $550 round-trip and business fares starting around $1,100 round-trip.

Of course, paying cash isn’t the only way to book flights — whether on Aeromexico or otherwise.

For instance, you could book a round-trip ticket between Raleigh and Mexico City with Delta SkyMiles (a SkyTeam alliance partner with Aeromexico) for just 36,000 miles round-trip. If you’re running low on SkyMiles, you can easily transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Delta at a 1:1 ratio.

You could also book directly with Aeromexico Rewards points. Round-trip award tickets between RDU and MEX, for instance, start at around 32,000 points. Amex points, Brex RewardsCapital One milesCiti ThankYou Rewards, Rove miles, and Marriott Bonvoy all transfer to Aeromexico.

Final Thoughts

Aeromexico is expanding in the U.S. with 2 new routes connecting popular destinations in Mexico. This is good news, especially for travelers in San Juan, who will be able to enjoy the only nonstop service between the island and Mexico City.
