Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Although Capital One hasn’t been a staple in the travel rewards space as long as Chase or American Express, the program has taken steps to make a name for itself.

In 2021, Capital One introduced its own premium travel credit card: the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. The card has been one of my favorites and most used thanks to its simplified earning structure, a long list of perks and benefits, and highly valuable transferable rewards miles.

Capital One then released a somewhat similar business card: the Capital One Venture X Business Card. The Capital One Venture X Business card also provides plenty of value, with fantastic perks and a massive welcome bonus offer:

  • Earn up to 150k 400K bonus miles: 200K miles when you spend $30K in the first 3 months, and an additional 200k miles when you spend $150k in the first 6 months.

Here’s an in-depth look at the Capital One Venture X Business card, the value of Capital One miles, and how I plan to redeem the massive welcome bonus the card offers.

Capital One Venture X Business Card Overview

The Capital One Venture X Business card is an excellent all-around rewards card for business owners who are looking for both a simplified way to earn rewards and multiple ways to redeem those miles. Besides the fantastic welcome offer, the Capital One Venture X Business card offers numerous benefits including:

  • 10x miles for hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel, 5x miles for flights and vacation rentals purchased through Capital One Business Travel, 2x miles on all other purchases
  • $300 annual travel credit for bookings through Capital One Business Travel
  • 10,000 bonus miles every year, starting on your first anniversary
  • Unlimited lounge access at more than 1,300 lounges worldwide, including Capital One Lounges and Priority Pass™ lounges, after enrollment
  • Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit
  • Access to Capital One’s transfer partners
  • No additional fee for employee cards
  • No preset spending limit
  • No foreign transaction fees

What Are Capital One Miles Worth?

Capital One miles are among the most valuable transferable rewards available, only behind American Express Membership Rewards points and Chase Ultimate Rewards points. We value Capital One miles at 1.8 cents per point, making the current welcome offer worth an astounding $7,200.

Of course, how you choose to redeem these miles ultimately determines how much value you get. There are numerous ways to redeem Capital One miles, including statement credits, gift cards, and booking travel through Capital One Business Travel. However, the most lucrative way to redeem Capital One miles is by transferring them to Capital One’s travel partners.

How I Plan To Redeem 150,000 Capital One Miles

Here at Upgraded Points, we strive to get maximum value from our points and miles. As mentioned, after meeting the minimum spending requirements, here’s how I would redeem the Capital One Venture X Business card 150,000 miles welcome offer for maximum value.

Round-Trip Flights to Europe for 2

Although I travel to Europe a few times per year, I don’t always fly there in business class. Sometimes economy awards just provide better value, and other times, cash fares are too good to pass up.

However, whenever my wife joins me, we make an effort to book long-haul international flights in business class, or at the very least, premium economy. Fortunately, that’s relatively easy to do with Capital One miles.

One such way to do so is by transferring Capital One miles to Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France-KLM. Flying Blue has excellent award pricing for routes between the U.S. and Europe. Although the program uses dynamic pricing, it also has standardized saver-level pricing. One-way business class flights between the U.S. and Europe can be booked for as little as 60,000 miles one-way (which is actually the new award pricing due to a recent devaluation.) Fortunately, award availability is solid as long as you are flexible with your dates.

This means that, for 120,000 Flying Blue miles plus taxes and fees, my wife and I can travel to Europe in business class. It is worth noting that Flying Blue levies hefty fuel surcharges, so you could expect to pay around $250 per person one-way.

Capital One miles transfer to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio. Flying Blue is also a transfer partner of many other credit card points programs including American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards. Alternatively, we could fly back home in premium economy.

However, we would also need to book return tickets, so we like to book business class for the flight to Europe and premium economy for the flight home. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t have enough miles for the return tickets in business class, unless we transferred miles from another credit card program.

One-way premium economy class flights between the U.S. and Europe can be booked for as little as 40,000 miles one-way. Still, this is excellent value of Flying Blue miles as cash rates for round-trip premium economy class flights between the U.S. and Europe are routinely over $1,600. This doesn’t account for the fact that the overnight flight will be in business class!

Flying Blue miles are extremely valuable, especially when you’re redeeming for long-haul international business class flights. Check out our detailed guide on the best ways to redeem Air France-KLM Flying Blue miles for maximum value.

Final Thoughts

The Capital One Venture X Business card is a fantastic business travel rewards card, as it offers numerous perks and benefits. However, the card’s massive welcome bonus offer is what makes it truly stand out.

Although there are numerous ways to redeem credit card rewards, the best way is to transfer them to transfer partners. Fortunately, Capital One has several fantastic travel partners.

When redeemed efficiently for award travel, welcome bonuses can be worth a lot. With this single welcome offer, I can comfortably take my wife to Europe and back, which would otherwise cost thousands of dollars.
