Singapore Airlines is improving its transfer rate to Marriott Bonvoy, increasing the number of hotel points you’ll receive when converting KrisFlyer miles.

It’s a positive change on paper, but in reality, this is one of those updates that likely won’t move the needle for most travelers.

Here’s what you need to know.

KrisFlyer to Marriott Transfers Get a Boost April 1

Starting April 1, 2026, transfers from Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer to Marriott Bonvoy will improve from a weak 2:1 ratio to a slightly less painful 4:3 ratio. That’s a 50% bump in what you’ll receive on the hotel side. The 3,000-mile minimum remains, but a higher annual cap means you can transfer more miles overall.

Here’s the reality, though: even with the improved ratio, this is still not a good deal.

KrisFlyer miles are consistently among the most valuable airline currencies out there — especially for premium cabin redemptions on Singapore Airlines or Star Alliance partners. Marriott Bonvoy points, on the other hand, tend to deliver much lower value per point.

For example, we value KrisFlyer miles at 1.35 cents apiece, and Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.7 cents — so even with the improved 4:3 ratio, you’re still losing value on the transfer. When you run the numbers, you’re still swapping high-value airline miles for relatively low-value hotel points.

There are really only a couple of scenarios where such a transfer could make sense, like if you have KrisFlyer miles nearing expiration or you just need a small top-off to lock in a Marriott redemption. Otherwise, you’re almost always better off keeping your KrisFlyer miles where they are instead of transferring to Marriott Bonvoy.

Hot Tip:

KrisFlyer miles expire after 3 years regardless of activity, making the transfer a possible last-resort option only. But if you need to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, you’re usually better off earning directly through hotel stays, credit cards, or promotions.

Final Thoughts

This is a modest improvement, with a 4:3 ratio instead of 2:1, but you’re still giving up value by converting KrisFlyer miles into Marriott Bonvoy points. For most travelers, this remains a poor use of miles. It could make sense in limited cases — like expiring miles or a small top-off — but otherwise, you’re better off holding onto your KrisFlyer balance.
