How much are your Marriott Bonvoy points worth? An analysis of 2.5 million hotel redemption options across 8,000 properties and found a median value of 0.73 cents per point.

Marriott Bonvoy has more than 290 million members, who earn points on hotel stays that can be redeemed for free nights. But not all redemptions offer the same value.

Here’s how we calculated our valuation, and which hotel brands and destinations can offer the best value.

Methodology

The team at Gondola tracks live pricing data for 2.5 million redemption options across over 8,000 properties in the Marriott portfolio. It records the lowest available points redemption, the lowest available cash rate, and whether the rate is refundable.

We limited our study to fully refundable rates because bookings made with your Marriott Bonvoy points are usually fully refundable if you cancel at least 1 day before check-in.

Hot Tip:

Gondola is a free travel tool that helps you track your points balances and see how much they’re worth, manage trips, and search and book hotels.

What Are Marriott Points Worth?

We found a median redemption value of 0.73 cents per point for Marriott Bonvoy points

We’ve focused on the median, rather than the average, to prevent extremely high or low-value redemptions from skewing the results. The median is the midpoint of the dataset, so half of the data points fall at or below that value, and half fall at or above it.

This baseline valuation can help you determine whether you’re getting a good redemption when redeeming your Marriott points.

Marriott Bonvoy

If you’re looking to earn more Marriott points but don’t want to pay a large annual fee, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card still earns 6x points on Marriott stays, 3x points on the first $6,000 spent in combined purchases annually on grocery stores, gas stations, and dining, and 2x points on all other purchases.
