SunWing Airlines does not include free checked luggage for flight-only passengers, so this must be purchased separately. Passengers traveling on a SunWing Vacations or Cruise package receive their first checked bag for free.

If you think it’s likely you’ll pack over 50 pounds (23 kg), then it’s worth considering upgrading to Elite Plus, where the purchased baggage allowance is 65 pounds (30 kg). This can work out cheaper than the flat overweight fee and you’ll benefit from extra legroom and priority boarding.

Can I Pre-Pay for Baggage?

SunWing does allow passengers the ability to pre-pay luggage to benefit from the cheapest fees available.

To pre-pay, log-in to your booking and add the number of bags that you would like to purchase or call the Sales Centre at 877-SUNWING. Baggage can be pre-paid up to 48 hours before the flight.

Credit Cards That Wipe Away Your Baggage Fees

SunWing has a limited number of flights to the U.S., so it doesn’t offer a co-branded credit card with free bags.

But not all is lost: just use the Capital One® Venture® Rewards card’s Purchase Eraser tool to wipe away any baggage fees you incur.

This tool lets you wipe away travel charges using your Venture card’s points at 1 cent per point. All you need to do is charge the baggage fee to your Venture card, load up the Purchase Eraser tool, and mark the purchase for redemption. Then, you’ll pay nothing out of pocket.
