Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is the busiest airport in Michigan and the 20th busiest in the U.S. It serves 31 million passengers a year on their way to or from over 125 destinations throughout the U.S. and over 20 other countries on over 800 flights a day. It’s also a hub airport for Delta Air Lines and hosts a significant presence by Spirit Airlines.

But before they get on those planes connecting 3 continents, air travelers at DTW often relax and get ready for their flights at one of the several airport lounges and experiences.

Here’s everything you need to know about DTW’s lounges and airport experiences, how to get into them, and more.

Connecting Between Terminals for Lounge Access

Terminal-to-terminal shuttles connect McNamara and Evans terminals, stopping at the Westin. Shuttles depart about every 10 minutes from the terminals’ ground transportation centers and the Westin entrance. You must leave and reclear security to use the interterminal shuttle.

Within McNamara Terminal, the ExpressTram (the sci-fi-looking shuttle thing that whooshes overhead in the main hallway) transports passengers back and forth, stopping at 3 stations:

  • Terminal Station, in the center of the concourse near gates A29 to A55, check-in, baggage claim, ground transportation, and the tunnel to concourses B and C
  • South Station, near gates A1 to A28
  • North Station, near gates A56 to A78

Best Credit Cards To Access Priority Pass Lounges

A number of cards include Priority Pass membership as part of their benefits. Our favorites include:

For many of these cards, enrollment is required before you can use any Priority Pass lounge access.

Priority Pass members can visit Anita’s Kitchen, Be Relax Spa, Gameway, Lufthansa Business Lounge, and Minute Suites, as permitted by their membership.

Final Thoughts

Though it’s not as chock-full of lounges as many bigger, busier airports in the U.S. or abroad, DTW still offers travelers passing through opportunities to find a quiet place, grab a bite, and relax. With the guidance here, you should be able to make the most of the minutes before your flight instead of simply browsing through Brooks Brothers ties or trying to get the Pokémon card vending machine to work.
