When talking about points hotels, we usually talk about how great Hyatt’s redemption value consistently is or the massive number of hotels under the Marriott portfolio — Radisson Hotels does not typically come up in conversation.

Radisson Hotels is still a significant player in the global hospitality world, with nearly 700 properties open across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.

The Radisson Rewards program makes it reasonably easy for members to earn and redeem points for free hotel stays across its brands. You might even be surprised to find that Radisson Hotels has a lot of 5-star hotels, as well!

Let’s get straight into how you can begin earning lots of Radisson Rewards points. By complementing the strategies outlined in this article with earning IHG One Rewards, World of Hyatt, Hilton Honors, and Marriott Bonvoy points, you’ll find yourself with tons of different hotel points to use for free stays around the world.

Step 1: Join Radisson Rewards

When you join Radisson Rewards, you’ll get a unique Radisson Rewards number associated with your email.

Every time you use your Radisson Rewards number for an opportunity to earn points, the Radisson Rewards number will ensure that the points get deposited into your account.

Anytime you have points, you can use them for a number of things, including hotel stays, gift cards, and even transferring to airline partners.

Before you do that, however, you’ll need to register for the Radisson Rewards program.

Hot Tip:

Radisson Hotels Americas properties in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean were acquired by Choice Hotels in 2023, and as a result, Radisson Rewards Americas members were integrated into the Choice Privileges program. The current Radisson Rewards program only covers Radisson Hotels in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific.

Now, let’s take a look at the various ways to rack up lots of Radisson Rewards points.

1. Radisson Hotels Stays

Radisson Rewards members earn points based on their elite status. Base-level Rewards Club members will earn 8 points per dollar spent on eligible rates.

An eligible rate, according to the program’s terms and conditions, is defined as “a rate identified in Radisson’s reservation system as eligible for points.” These rates exclude rates booked through an online travel agency, group or tour operator accounts, complimentary or barter rooms not booked on points, friends and family rates, and employee rates.

Also, points can be earned on up to 3 rooms booked under the same reservation, but credit for multiple rooms must be requested at or before the time of check-in, and the member must appear on the reservation for at least one of the booked rooms and be a registered guest for the duration of the stay.

The accrual rate is the same regardless of which hotel brand you stay in. Depending on which credit card you use and which elite status you have, you can earn anywhere from 23 to 45 points per $1 spent, which is worth anywhere from 6.9 cents per dollar to 13.5 cents per dollar, per our valuations.

2. Radisson Rewards Elite Status Bonuses

To make things even better, your accrual rate increases with higher elite status as follows:

Premium

VIP

Remember that your Radisson Rewards points are valid for 24 months, but they can be extended with qualifying activity.

If you’ve got elite status with a different hotel brand, check to see if you’re eligible for a Radisson elite status match or challenge.

3. Radisson Rewards for Bookers and Planners

Another fantastic way to earn Radisson Rewards points is by hosting meetings and events at Radisson Hotels properties. The earning structure is simple: earn 5 points per $1 spent on meetings and events (up to 250,000 points) and 10 points per $1 spent on rooms booked for others.

Remember that qualifying spending, and therefore points earning, excludes any taxes and gratuities.

4. Radisson Rewards Promotions

Radisson Rewards periodically posts special offers/promotions that can help you earn additional points if you happen to have some spending at Radisson coming up.

These offers include double points for hosting meetings or events, starting with your second meeting. Some promotions we’ve seen in the past include 3,000 bonus points for booking through the mobile app (iOS, Android).

5. Radisson Rewards Car Rental Partners

Although Radisson Rewards doesn’t have as many travel partners as, say, Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors, there are still some excellent ways to earn Radisson Rewards points with its car rental partners.

When you book rental cars with Radisson’s partners, you can earn up to 1,800 points per rental or up to 750 points per day, plus discounts on base rates.

Remember that in order to qualify for points, you’ll need to book an eligible rate and add your Radisson Rewards number to the car reservation. Some partners may also charge a frequent traveler surcharge when choosing to earn select airline or hotel points instead of their own car rental credits.

6. Radisson Rewards Experiences

Radisson Rewards Experiences is a program that rewards you for booking activities and attractions such as museums, aquariums, and zoos. You’ll earn 15x Radisson Rewards points for every dollar you spend.

There are some pretty interesting options, such as tickets to the SUMMIT at One Vanderbilt, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and a day pass to explore Singapore. If you have travel plans and want to earn a ton of points on excursions, you should certainly consider booking through Radisson Rewards Experiences!

7. Bicester Shopping Village

The Bicester Village Shopping Collection is an open-air shopping market, with nearly a dozen locations in Europe and China. You’ll find high-end brands such as Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurant and can save as much as 60% on your purchases.

You’ll also earn 10x Radisson Rewards points for every euro or pound spent in Europe and 10x points for every 10 yuan spent in China.

8. Refer a Friend

When you invite a friend to the Radisson Rewards program, both of you will earn 1,000 bonus points after the first stay, up to 50,000 points per calendar year.

9. Buy Radisson Rewards Points

As a rule of thumb, it’s generally not recommended to purchase points unless:

  1. There’s a massive discount or bonus on purchased points
  2. You have a specific redemption in mind, and you’re short of the required points

Points must be purchased in increments of 1,000, and members can purchase up to 250,000 points per account per calendar year. If you were to purchase 250,000 points, the price would be $1,750, or $0.007 per point.

Final Thoughts

Although there aren’t as many ways to earn Radisson Rewards points as you may have with other programs, there are still many opportunities to accelerate your points earning with respect to Radisson Rewards.

It all starts with staying in a Radisson Hotels property — before you know it, you’ll have tons of points you can redeem for free nights.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Radisson Rewards status tiers? Do they earn bonus points?

Radisson Rewards has 3 status tiers:

  1. Club earns 8 points per $1 spent
  2. Premium earns 27 points per $1 spent
  3. VIP earns 36 points per $1 spent
Can I earn Radisson Rewards points by shopping?

At the moment, you can’t earn Radisson Rewards points through an online shopping portal.

Can I earn miles instead of Radisson Rewards points?

Radisson Rewards enables you to earn Radisson Rewards points only. But, if you perform an extra step by transferring your Radisson Rewards points to an airline partner, you can end up with airline miles. However, the transfer ratios (10:1 in 10,000-point increments) are poor and generally represent bad value.

How many Radisson Rewards points are earned per night or stay?

As a base member, you’ll earn 8 Radisson Rewards points per $1 spent, regardless of hotel brand.

You can earn even more points with the elite status bonus (up to 36 points more per $1 spent).

Is there a Radisson Rewards credit card that earns points?

No, the Radisson Rewards co-branded credit cards were discontinued as of April 2022.

When do Radisson Rewards points expire?

Radisson Rewards points expire after 24 months of inactivity. You can extend the expiration through any earning activity, such as purchasing 1,000 Radisson Rewards points.
