If you’re just getting started with the process of building your credit, or if you’re in need of a card that will offer a low introductory APR for balance transfers, then the Chase Slate Edge card would be a great option for you.
Not only does the card no charge an annual fee or require a security deposit, but it also offers you the opportunity to lower your interest rate and increase your credit limit just for using your card responsibly.
Lower Your Interest Rate
Chase Slate Edge cardholders who spend more than $1,000 during a cardmember year, and have made all payments on time, can be automatically reviewed for a 2% reduction of their APR on purchases and balance transfers, based on credit criteria.
Through this benefit, your APR can be reduced by 2% each year until it reaches 9.74% plus the prime rate, which is 3.25%.
Hot Tip: While this is certainly a nice benefit, you should be doing everything you can to pay off your credit card balance on time and in full each month so that you never pay any interest on your purchases, regardless of what your APR is.
Raise Your Credit Limit
Those who spend $500 or more through the first 6 months from account opening, and have made all payments on time, will be automatically evaluated for a credit limit increase based on Chase credit criteria.
This is great for those looking to improve their credit score, as having a larger credit limit will help to keep your credit utilization lower each month — and your credit utilization makes up 30% of your overall credit score.
Chase Credit Journey
Chase Credit Journey helps you monitor your credit score by giving you free access to your score each month, along with messages and alerts regarding your account. It’s the perfect tool for anyone who is working on building or improving their credit score.
My Chase Plan
Have a rather large purchase coming up? My Chase Plan allows you to break up purchases made with your card into smaller, monthly payments with no interest, with just a fixed monthly fee for the service.
Again, you should be doing your best to pay your credit card off in full each month. But if you have a large or unexpected purchase come up that you do not currently have all the funds for, this could make for a great option.
With purchase protection, when you pay for at least part of your purchase with your card, you will be covered if the item you purchased is stolen or accidentally damaged within 120 days from the date of purchase. The coverage towards a replacement, repair, or reimbursement is capped at $500 per claim and $50,000 per account.
Extended Warranty Coverage
When you purchase a product with your Chase Slate Edge card that comes with an eligible warranty of 3 years or less, the warranty will be extended by 1 additional year.
Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver
The Chase Slate Edge card also comes with an Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) that gives protection against damage or theft of your rental car.
In order to receive the coverage, you will need to decline the policy offered by the car rental agency and pay for your entire rental with your Chase Slate Edge card. But also keep in mind that this insurance is secondary, meaning it will only kick in after you have already filed a claim with your primary auto insurance provider.
