Are you a sports fan? Then you’d better book your next flight with Alaska Airlines, because the company primes is adding live sports to its entertainment lineup.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Alaska Partnering With FOX Sports

Alaska Airlines announced today that it’s launching a new partnership with FOX Sports to provide football coverage during its flights.

Here’s the information you need to know:

  • Streaming begins on August 31, 2024.
  • Live streaming is for guests aboard Alaska Airlines flights on Saturdays
  • Live sports will be streamed from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST
  • This is the Big Noon Saturday program, showing college football games and the second hour of its pregame show
  • Streaming is available on mainline Alaska Airlines aircraft with satellite Wi-Fi
  • Streaming is completely free; you do not need to purchase Wi-Fi to watch
  • If you miss the event, you can watch recorded streams for free at a later date

This is great news for college football fans, as they’ll no longer need to miss any games when flying.

Of course, Alaska isn’t the only airline making a showing for sports fans. With this move, Alaska joins Southwest, JetBlue, and even Air Canada in offering streaming services for sports channels.

While Southwest doesn’t specifically offer FOX Sports as a channel, it does offer ESPN.

And JetBlue provides comprehensive sports coverage, with live action available from ESPN, ESPN 2, NBC Sports, Fox Sports 1, ESPN U, and the NFL Network.

Air Canada also offers sports streaming on select aircraft with access to TSN, TSN2, and RDS.

United Airlines, meanwhile, is adding more flights to its schedule to key football college games this fall, which means you’ll have plenty more opportunities to make it to a game.

Unfortunately, Alaska Airlines’ new streaming partnership is a bit more limited than competitors like JetBlue. While college football fans will be able to watch to their heart’s content, pro football isn’t on the table, nor is any other sport. Perhaps Alaska will expand its content in the future .

Final Thoughts

Alaska Airlines has announced a new partnership with FOX Sports, granting its customers the ability to livestream college football games during their flights.

Beginning August 31, 2024, you’ll simply need to be on board a satellite Wi-Fi-equipped aircraft and you’ll be able to use your device to view entertainment. While live streaming is only supported on Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., you can watch recorded videos anytime for free.
