A $300 annual ChatGPT credit is on the way for some business cardholders, adding to a growing list of monthly and niche credits — here’s what we know so far.

A Closer Look at Amex’s New $300 ChatGPT Credit

American Express has confirmed that both the American Express^® Business Gold Card and The Business Platinum Card^® from American Express will soon receive a $300 annual ChatGPT Business statement credit (prior enrollment will likely be required).

The benefit is expected to launch sometime this spring, though an exact date hasn’t been announced yet. Details are still limited, but the big question is how the credit will be broken up. Amex hasn’t yet clarified whether it will be a single $300 annual credit or a monthly benefit (likely around $25 per month).

Based on current pricing for ChatGPT Business, which runs about $300 annually per user, a one-time annual credit seems more likely.

That said, there’s a catch. ChatGPT Business plans require a minimum of 2 users, meaning this credit would only offset part of the total cost. Therefore, businesses would still need to cover the cost of at least 1 additional user.

This lines up with what Amex has been hinting at. The issuer previously surveyed cardholders about adding new credits — including tools like Notion, Xero, and LegalZoom — alongside a possible annual fee increase on the Amex Business Gold card. Those broader changes haven’t been confirmed, but the ChatGPT credit is now moving ahead and will apply to both the Amex Business Gold card and Amex Business Platinum card.

For some cardholders, this will be easy to use. For others, it may just be another credit to keep track of. And as we’ve seen before, when new perks are added, there’s a solid chance an annual fee increase follows.
