Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) finally has its first-ever American Express Centurion Lounge — and it’s a stunner.

“With strong year-round Card Member demand for travel to Salt Lake City, expanding the Centurion Lounge network here is a natural fit,” said Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel.

Eligible Amex cardmembers with a same-day boarding pass can now visit the space located in Concourse B near Gate B31. This lounge is open to the public as of today, October 28, at 1 p.m. Mountain Time, coinciding with the debut of Delta’s second Sky Club also located in Concourse B.

Upgraded Points was invited to a media preview to tour the lounge ahead of its official opening. Here’s what you can expect on your upcoming visit.

Where Is the New Amex Centurion Lounge at SLC?

The brand-new American Express Centurion Lounge at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is located near Gate B31 in Concourse B. The easiest way to get there is by walking through the central tunnel just past security.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Entrance
Located toward the end of Concourse B.

Most Delta Air Lines flights operate from Concourse A, though the carrier operates a small number of flights out of Concourse B and is expanding the space with 10 additional gates. All other airlines depart from Concourse B, making this new Centurion Lounge especially convenient for these passengers.

It takes roughly 15 minutes to get from the TSA security checkpoints to the Amex Centurion Lounge. Of course, if you are flying out of Concourse A, you’ll want to account for plenty of time for the walk back.

What To Expect at SLC’s Centurion Lounge

With this opening, Salt Lake City joins the lineup as the 31st Amex Centurion Lounge worldwide. These lounges are typically found in major U.S. airports, so the addition of one at SLC fills a significant gap in the network.

Spanning nearly 18,000 square feet, this new space can accommodate up to 342 travelers. It’s about half the size of the second Delta Sky Club located in Concourse B that also opened doors to the public today, October 28.

The Amex Centurion Lounge at SLC will be open daily from 4:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m. Mountain Time.

Design

Located beside Gate B31, the lounge entrance is clearly marked with overhead signage and a staff member at the podium. Once inside, you’ll find elevators to the right and a staircase leading up to the main lounge level. In the lobby, several staff members greet guests at the check-in desk to confirm lounge access.

After check-in, you’ll wind around to the right toward the lounge’s centerpiece: a cozy fire pit that sets the tone for its ski lodge-inspired atmosphere. Decorated in cool neutrals and earthy tones accented by local artwork, the space feels both modern and luxe.

Cool tones throughout.

Fortunately, accessibility is a true priority for Amex here, not an afterthought.

Throughout the lounge, wheelchair-accessible ramps run parallel to the stairs, making it easy to reach the buffet, seating areas, and outdoor terrace.

Seating

The main seating area feels more like a cozy living room than a typical airport lounge, featuring comfortable couch-style seating instead of traditional desks and chairs.

Food and Beverages

Amex has taken a fresh approach to food and beverage at its new Salt Lake City lounge, introducing a wider variety of lighter options in addition to the main buffet.

In the main seating area, you’ll find a smaller beverage station featuring a classic espresso machine, a cold brew dispenser, and options like iced tea and infused water.

What makes this space stand out is the display case of light bites, including small plates like rosemary and citrus-marinated olives, fig honeycomb tartines, charred shishito peppers, and even chocolate chip cookies for a sweet finish.

Hot Tip:

The Amex Platinum card and the Amex Business Platinum card are your best bet for entering Amex Centurion lounges if you fly with multiple airlines, not just Delta. The Delta Reserve card and the Delta Reserve Business card only grant you access if you’re flying same-day with Delta, and you must purchase your flights with these cards.

Amex Centurion Lounge SLC Guest Policy

Amex cut complimentary guest access for the Amex Platinum card and Amex Business Platinum card a few years ago to address overcrowding. Here’s what you need to know about bringing guests:

  • Amex Platinum card and Amex Business Platinum cardmembers may enter with up to 2 complimentary guests if they have spent $75,000 in eligible purchases in a calendar year. Guest day passes can be purchased for $50 per adult or $30 per child between the ages of 2 and 17.
  • Centurion cardmembers may enter with up to 2 guests or immediate family (spouse or domestic partner, plus children under 18) at no additional charge.
  • Delta Reserve cardholders may bring up to 2 guests at a per-visit rate of $50 per person, per location, but they must also be traveling on a same-day Delta ticket.
  • Amex Platinum card, Amex Business Platinum card, and Centurion cardmembers may purchase a day pass for any additional guests for $50.

Final Thoughts

Salt Lake City travelers are in for a treat with the opening of 2 beautiful airport lounges on the same day. The Amex Centurion lounge has been a long-awaited addition at this airport, and it offers unique amenities not seen elsewhere across the network, from recovery rooms to appetizer cases. It also matches the area’s aesthetic perfectly.
