Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

It’s incredibly expensive to book flights from the United States to Greenland, especially since there aren’t direct flights available to travelers. That’s changing next year, as United has announced a nonstop route from New York (EWR) to Nuuk, Greenland (GOH).

While you can’t use your United miles for these flights yet, you can use Aeroplan points — and we’ve found plenty of award space for you to book. Let’s take a look.

Award Alert Details

These flights are operated by United Airlines‘ 737 MAX, which it relies on for its domestic flights. Since the entire journey is only a little over 4 hours, this makes sense. There is no business class on these flights, just domestic first, which United is selling as Premium Select. Unfortunately, those aren’t available for booking with miles.

This deal is available for using points through Air Canada’s Aeroplan program:

  • Class: Economy
  • Routes: New York (EWR) to Nuuk, Greenland (GOH)
  • Dates: June to September 2025
  • Rates: 35,000 Aeroplan points

However, we found pretty decent award availability in economy all the way from June to September of 2025. This includes the ability to book up to 9 seats at a time.

The easiest way to find flights is heading over to Seats.aero, especially since Air Canada’s website struggles with finding Nuuk Airport (GOH) in its standard searches.

While the Aeroplan results aren’t updated as frequently as the Virgin Australia results, you can easily cross-compare and see what’s still available. To book, you’ll want to click through the Seats.aero link.

Best Ways To Book

For most U.S. travelers, you’ll want to use your Aeroplan points to book. It costs just 35,000 points one-way, which is more expensive than you’d usually expect for economy flighgs. However, considering that these flights are selling for over $1,500, you’re still getting good value for your points.

If you have Virgin Australia Velocity points, you can also use just 17,800 points to book these flights. Unfortunately, Virgin Australia doesn’t partner with any U.S. card issuers, so you won’t be able to transfer points to your account.

This is unlike Air Canada Aeroplan, which partners with American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, and Chase Ultimate Rewards. For each of these, you can transfer your points over at a 1:1 ratio.

Hot Tip:

Keep an eye out for transfer bonus promotions, which can give you more points in the process, making your redemption value even greater.

Final Thoughts

The ability to use your rewards points to book flights to Greenland is an exciting new development, especially since they’re so reasonably priced. If Greenland has been on your list, now’s the time to book!
