The Capital One Venture Rewards card continues to be a solid choice for a travel credit card, especially for those new to the world of points and miles. Recently, the card became even more compelling when Capital One doubled its welcome offer from 50,000 to 100,000 miles.

Capital One Venture Card Welcome Offer

Newly-approved cardholders can earn 100,000 bonus miles when they spend $20,000 on purchases in the first 12 months from account opening, or earn 50,000 miles if they spend $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months. Earning a bonus of 100,000 Capital One miles is worth $1,400 based on our valuations!

Capital One offers a large selection of airline transfer partners for its Capital One Miles program, and transfer rates range from 1:1, 2:1.5, to 2:1, depending on the partner program. For the most part, you’ll want to focus on programs that offer a 1:1 rate in order to get the most value for your miles.

One such program is Avianca Lifemiles, which has an excellent sweet spot in its award chart that allows you to book one-way tickets between the U.S. and Europe in the luxurious Lufthansa first class for just 87,000 miles! Better yet, Avianca doesn’t pass on fuel surcharges from partner airlines, so instead of paying the exorbitant fuel surcharges that other airlines charge, you’ll pay just $5.60 to book your award!

Final Thoughts

The Capital One Miles program is often overlooked compared to more popular points and miles programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards and Amex Membership Rewards. However, Capital One Miles can really provide a lot of great value to travelers — and the Capital One Venture card is a great way to rack up those miles!
