Great news for those looking to boost their balance of Qatar Airways Privilege Club Avios: You can transfer your Citi ThankYou Points and get a 20% bonus!

Here are the details of the transfer promotion, along with a few redemption ideas to help you get maximum value.

Transfer Bonus Details

Through March 15, 2025, you’ll receive a 20% bonus when transferring Citi ThankYou Points to Qatar Avios.

ThankYou Points usually transfer at a 1:1 rate to Qatar, making the new rate 1:1.2 for a limited time.

This transfer bonus is offered by Citi and is listed clearly on the Citi transfer partner page, so you’ll see exactly how many Avios you’ll get after the transfer — no guesswork involved.

You should make certain you have an idea of what redemption you’d like to make before completing your transfer. Why? Once you move your ThankYou Points to Qatar Airways, you cannot move them back. This brings us to the subject of getting great value out of your Qatar Avios.

Qatar Avios Sweet Spots

The Privilege Club program isn’t quite as lucrative as some other award charts, but there is definitely some great value to be had here.

Fly Qsuite From the U.S. to Doha

Qatar’s business class cabin, Qsuite, is widely regarded as one of the best business class seats in the sky. Usually, a one-way ticket aboard Qsuite from the U.S. to Doha will set you back 70,000 Avios. But thanks to the 20% transfer bonus, you’d need to transfer just 59,000 Citi ThankYou Points to book this ticket.

Fly Qsuite From the U.S. to India or Pakistan

If you want to visit India or Pakistan, a one-way ticket from the U.S. in Qsuite will cost you just 80,000 Avios. That is just 10,000 more Avios than it takes to fly to Doha for roughly an extra 3.5 hours of flight time in Qsuite! Thanks to the transfer bonus, you’d need to transfer just 67,000 ThankYou Points per seat to make this booking.

Plus, you can fly to Ahmedabad, Delhi, Goa, or Mumbai in India or Islamabad or Karachi in Pakistan.

Fly Qsuite for 30+ Hours to New Zealand

New Zealand is a bucket-list destination for many travelers, due to its beautiful landscapes. But getting there is no small task, as the flights you take to get there will be extremely long. Given that, you’ll want to make sure those extremely long flights are as comfortable as possible.

You can do that by booking a one-way Qsuite ticket for just 120,000 Avios, which is 100,000 ThankYou Points before factoring in the 20% transfer bonus. This might seem like an absurd amount of miles for a one-way ticket, but consider that this flight consists of over 30 hours of Qsuite flight time from the U.S. to Doha and Doha to Auckland. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more comfortable way to get to New Zealand than that!

Boost Your Avios in Other Programs

It’s also worth pointing out that you can freely (and instantly) transfer Avios between various loyalty programs. If you want to boost your Iberia Plus, Finnair Plus, or British Airways Club account, you could use this transfer bonus from Citi to Qatar Airways and then move those Avios onward to another program at a 1:1 ratio — including the Avios you got as a bonus from Citi during the first move.

Final Thoughts

Just remember to have a specific redemption planned before finalizing any transfers, and make sure you do so before the March 15, 2025, deadline!

Although the Qatar Avios program might often be overlooked by most travelers, getting an up to 35% transfer bonus and targeting sweet spot redemptions is a fantastic way to get some incredible value out of this promotion.
