The Citi Rewards+® Card is a great no-annual-fee credit card that pairs well with other Citi credit cards to boost your redemption values and help you earn well on all of your spending.

Well, it is if you already have the card. Now, applications for the card appear to be closed, and Citi has been quietly removing references to the Citi Rewards+ card from its website.

What’s going on with this card? Here’s what we know and what we don’t.

A Quick Overview of the Citi Rewards+ Card

The Citi Rewards+ card‘s $0 annual fee is great when you consider its most interesting features:

  • 10% points rebate: Get 10% of your Citi ThankYou Points back when you redeem them. This applies to the first 100,000 points redeemed annually, meaning you can get 10,000 points back to use again. You don’t get a points rebate when sharing points with other people, though.
  • Round up your points earnings: You never earn less than 10 points on a purchase with this card. Instead, earnings are automatically rounded up to the nearest 10 points, so a purchase of just 1 cent would still earn 10 points. Additionally, a purchase of $11 earns 20 points, and there’s no limit to how many points you can earn from your rewards being rounded up.
  • Earning categories: The card earns 5x ThankYou Points on hotels and rental cars in Citi’s travel portal through December 31, 2025, and 2x points at supermarkets and gas stations for the first $6,000 of spending each year, then 1x points.

What’s Going On With the Citi Rewards+ Card?

Citi has quietly removed references to the Citi Rewards+ card from its website. This follows multiple online rumors that the card would disappear. Now, it apparently has, and the application links for the card no longer work. Instead, you’ll end up at an error page where the card used to be.

Even Citi’s main page listing all credit cards no longer mentions the card.

We’ve reached out to Citi twice asking for comment and were told both times that the card issuer has no details to share — despite the fact something is clearly happening with the Citi Rewards+ card.

At this point, we can clearly state that the Citi Rewards+ card is no longer available for new applicants. Calling Citi to product change to this card from another Citi credit card may or may not work.

What if you already have the Citi Rewards+ card? Neither my last statement nor my wife’s (we both have the card) showed any messages about changes to the card. We can use our cards normally at this point. Will that change? So far, we don’t think so. Citi has a history of leaving card accounts open “as is” even when cards are no longer available for new applicants. Examples include the Citi Prestige® Card, Citi ThankYou® Preferred Card, and Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card — all of which are no longer available to new applicants, though existing customers can continue to use them normally.

Bottom Line:

Unless Citi says otherwise, existing cardholders can continue to use the Citi Rewards+ card normally, earning and redeeming points like they always have. However, those who don’t already have the card can’t apply for it.

Final Thoughts

Citi is remaining tight-lipped, but the Citi Rewards+ card is closed to applicants. Additionally, you may have a tough time trying to change to this card from another Citi credit card. The silver lining, though, is that existing cardholders seem unaffected. If history is any judge, Citi probably won’t make any changes to existing cardholders.

If that should change, we’ll be sure to let you know.
