Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Flying from the West Coast to Europe in business class is nearly always an expensive affair, even when you’re trying to position to the East Coast.

That’s why we were so excited to spot fares for $2,361 round-trip. Even better, these flights head to destinations to which we don’t normally see discounts, including Rome.

Fare Details

This fare sale comes courtesy of Star Alliance, which means you’ll be aboard flights with Turkish Airlines, Swiss, Brussels Airlines, Austrian, and TAP Portugal. Each of these airlines offers lie-flat seating in business class, so you’ll be more than comfortable on your journey across the Atlantic.

  • Class: Business
  • Routes: San Francisco (SFO) to Rome (FCO), Budapest (BUD), and Barcelona (BCN)
  • Dates: January to May 2025
  • Rates: As low as $2,361 round-trip

The cheapest flights are from San Francisco (SFO) to Rome (FCO). Even though there’s a stop, this is actually an awesome route with little time wasted on the layover.

For just a little more, you can choose to fly to Budapest (BUD).

Sure, Budapest is looking a little longer on that return leg, but that just means you get to build in a free layover.

Best Ways To Book

For this deal, head over to Google Flights to play with dates. After you find a flight you like, your best bet is to book directly through the airline, which means you’ll have a prime opportunity to utilize a favorite of ours: The Platinum Card® from American Express. This will rack up your points balance with 5x Membership Rewards points for flights booked directly with the airline or via AmexTravel.com (up to $500,000 per year, then 1x).

If you choose to book through a third-party online travel agency (OTA), which could be your cheapest option, we recommend using a card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve®. This card offers 3x Ultimate Rewards points on all travel purchases not purchased through Chase Travel and excellent travel insurance.

Final Thoughts

Finding business-class flights to Europe from the West Coast isn’t difficult. After all, there are tons of flights per day from popular airports in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

What is tremendously difficult is finding seats (especially the lie-flat type) for less than $3,000 round-trip. That’s what makes this deal so special; you’ll be spending less than $2,500 for your flight and can enjoy some extra comfort in business class.
