That was quick: JetBlue Airways has announced that its partnership with TAP Air Portugal, which began only in February, will end in September.

Let’s take a look at this news.

JetBlue and TAP Air Portugal Ending Reciprocal Benefits

JetBlue Airways has announced that it will end reciprocal benefits with TAP Air Portugal, effective September 30, 2025.

A note on JetBlue’s website reads: “No new bookings will be eligible for earning or redeeming after 9/30/2025. All retroactive points requests must be submitted by 9/30/2025. All existing bookings made prior to September 30 will be honored.”

The partnership, which we previously reported, launched earlier this year. Now, it’s already over.

Bottom Line:

Announced in February, the partnership allowed JetBlue TrueBlue members and TAP Air Portugal Miles&Go members to earn and redeem points on either program when flying with either airline. However, the partnership didn’t extend to elite status, nor the ability to earn tiles toward Mosaic status for spending on flights operated by TAP.

Booking TAP Air Portugal Flights Through JetBlue

If you want to book TAP Air Portugal flights using TrueBlue points, now is your last chance.

You can use TrueBlue points to book TAP Air Portugal tickets to Lisbon (LIS), Porto (OPO), and other destinations served by the airline.

Notably, you can book tickets for dates past the end of September. However, the last day you can make a new reservation is September 30. Thankfully, we’re seeing award availability well into the spring of 2026.

If you live in (or near) an airport served by TAP Air Portugal, and have some JetBlue TrueBlue points to spend, this can be a great way to get to Europe cheaply, even with the devaluations we saw earlier this year.

For instance, one-way flights to Lisbon are available from 39,900 points in economy and 89,000 points in business class.

Economy rates sit at the mid-range of what you’d pay for TAP Air Portugal tickets on Star Alliance airlines. Nonstop TAP flights from the East Coast cost 44,000 miles with United Airlines MileagePlus, 35,000 with Air Canada Aeroplan, and 32,500 with Avianca LifeMiles.

However, business class tickets are considerably more expensive with JetBlue points. In business class, you’ll pay 80,000 miles with United, 65,000 miles with LifeMiles, and 60,000 points through Aeroplan.

Final Thoughts

JetBlue is ending its partnership with TAP Air Portugal just months after it began. This is a bummer because you have one fewer option for booking flights to Portugal. However, thanks to the airline’s Star Alliance membership, there are numerous options for flying to Portugal from the U.S.
