Let’s take a closer look at this limited-time transfer bonus.
Offer Details
Marriott Bonvoy points typically transfer to Etihad Guest at a 3:1 ratio, but with the 50% bonus, that ratio improves to 3:1.5. And, when you transfer at least 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, you’ll receive a bonus of 5,000 points. This means that instead of yielding 25,000 Etihad Guest miles, you’d get 37,500 if you were to transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points.
Per the terms and conditions of the transfer bonus, any bonus miles earned will be credited up to 10 days after the base miles you receive from the transfer. So, if you transferred 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to your Etihad Guest account before the bonus expires, you’d receive 25,000 Etihad Guest miles initially and then another 12,500 up to 10 days after the transfer bonus ends on October 31, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
Etihad Guest Sweet Spots
While Etihad Guest may not be your first thought when it comes to redeeming miles, the program does allow for solid redemptions on certain flights.
For example, you could book American Airlines flights to Europe for 50,000 miles each way in business class or 62,500 miles each way in first class.
Or, if Morocco is on your travel bucket list, you can fly between New York (JFK) and Casablanca (CMN) with Royal Air Maroc for just 22,000 miles each way in economy or 44,000 miles each way in business class.
Marriott Bonvoy points are not as easy to come by as some of the other programs we just mentioned, so it’s wiser to conserve these points for hotel redemptions or transfer to another airline program that doesn’t have the plentiful partnerships Etihad Guest has. If you have points in any one of the above currencies, it may be a better choice to transfer from one of those programs.
A transfer bonus is always good news for travelers. This limited-time 50% bonus from Marriott Bonvoy to Etihad Guest could help you stretch your points even further — especially if you have a specific Etihad Guest redemption in mind.
If you think you’d like to take advantage of this deal, just remember to do so before midnight on October 31, 2021.
