American’s New Philadelphia Lounges Opening This Week

American Airlines has announced that the Flagship Lounge and Admirals Club lounges will open at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) on May 22 between gates A15 and A16 in the A-West terminal.

The lounges are located directly adjacent to each other and will replace the current Admirals Club in the A-East terminal.

Both spaces will offer various seating options, including café chairs, bar stools, lounge seating, and private work pods. Standard lounge amenities like Wi-Fi, power outlets, and flight information screens will also be available.

The Flagship Lounge predictably ups the ante with high-end offerings like shower suites with Klur bath products, family-friendly spaces, and more.

As we previously reported, the lounge’s food program will be helmed by Chef Randy Rucker of River Twice and Little Water restaurant fame, who was also a semifinalist for a James Beard Award. It will feature a full-service bar, self-serve buffet options, and an à la carte dining option exclusive to Philadelphia.

“We are excited to welcome our customers into American’s newest preflight experience with the opening of our brand-new Flagship and Admirals Club lounges in the A-West terminal,” said Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer.

Hot Tip:

American has big plans for Philadelphia, which saw more than 19 million travelers passing through in 2024. On a January 2025 earnings call, CEO Robert Isom indicated that the airline planned to restore service levels at PHL to pre-pandemic levels. The airline is also planning a flurry of new routes this summer, including new service to Milan (MXP) and Edinburgh (EDI).

Accessing the Flagship Lounge

American’s Flagship Lounge is reserved for its most premium customers. To gain access, you will need to meet one of the following requirements:

Unlike the Admirals Club, having a co-branded credit card from American won’t get you access to the Flagship Lounge.

Final Thoughts

The Flagship Lounge in Philadelphia will open on May 22, and American has released some important details about the lounge. An award-nominated chef will head its culinary program, and it will have a whole new concept for the lounge network: a full-service bar. We’re looking forward to checking out the Philadelphia Flagship Lounge as soon as we can!
