Big news from Chase today … well, big rumors, at least.

The issuer has teased 2 significant items on its Instagram: changes to the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the launch of a new business credit card. Details are very thin, especially on the new business card, but if the rumors, which have been circulating for weeks, are true, the Chase Sapphire Reserve card is about to look very different.

Here’s what we know (and what we don’t) about Chase’s upcoming plans for these premium cards this summer.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Card Refresh

Again, none of these details have been officially confirmed, but we can definitely speculate based on Chase’s statements and advertising moves regarding the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Earlier today, the Chase Sapphire Instagram account teased, “Rewards are about to get more rewarding. Summer 2025.” Later, the account added several images with a model holding new card art that looks different from the current version. This same advertisement was also seen at Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal.

Additionally, magazine advertisements were published last month about the Chase Sapphire Reserve card. However, the card’s earning rates are described in a way that doesn’t match what’s currently available to cardholders (for example, earning 3x points on travel isn’t mentioned).

And, if history is any judge, we may see an increase in the card’s annual fee, which is currently at $550.

Consider how Chase overhauled its United Airlines credit cards this past spring, increasing the annual fees while adding perks, some of which seem difficult to use. This has become a new trend with credit card issuers, overhauling many card aspects at once, offering new card art, changing the earning rates, adding spending-based perks, and then using those to justify an increase in the annual fee.

If Chase follows that pattern, we could see a jump in the annual fee on the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Chase Teases a New Sapphire Business Card

The Chase Sapphire Instagram account is also teasing a new business card, so we should see a Sapphire-family business card launching this summer.

As a member of the Chase Sapphire card family, we would expect this new business card to offer more perks, potentially offer Chase Sapphire lounge access, and charge a higher annual fee than the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (which is $95) or Ink Business Premier® Credit Card (which is $195).

Hot Tip:

Chase currently offers 2 Sapphire cards (the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card) with different benefits and annual fees. We look forward to seeing what a third Sapphire card could look like!

Final Thoughts

It’s worth repeating that none of these details are confirmed, other than the nearly-certain change in card art for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card this summer.

Based on Instagram and advertising, Chase is gearing up for a big summer with its Sapphire card family, likely launching a business card and making changes to its premium credit card. If history is any judge, we’ll see an increase in the card’s annual fee if there are any changes to cardholder perks or earning rates.
