Wyndham is expanding its low-cost ECHO Suites Extended Stay brand in the U.S. and debuting in Canada.

Let’s take a look at this news from Wyndham.

ECHO Suites To Debut in Canada

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has announced 60 new hotels for the new ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham brand, including the brand’s debut in Canada.

Wyndham pointed to “unprecedented interest” from developers, making ECHO one of the fastest-growing brands in 2022. Wyndham says the expansion brings its global pipeline to 265 hotels and roughly 33,000 rooms.

You might remember we reported on ECHO late last year. The brand will be catered to extended-stay guests. The hotels will be designed with “efficiently designed spaces and thoughtful essentials.” ECHO hotels will feature studio suites with kitchens, and amenity spaces will include fitness centers and laundry services.

Wyndham says several projects have already broken ground and are in various stages of construction in Virginia, Texas, and South Carolina, and more than a dozen are scheduled to break ground in the coming months. The chain has 265 hotels in the pipeline across the U.S. and Canada.

Booking Wyndham Hotels

Wyndham is one of the world’s largest hotel chains, with a whopping 9,100 hotels in more than 95 countries.

While Wyndham doesn’t get as much attention as Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, or Marriott, it has nearly 2 dozen brands under its portfolio. ECHO Suites will join brands such as Wyndham Hotels and ResortsRamadaLa Quinta, and another extended-stay option, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, which has 77 properties in North America and Asia.

Wyndham has perhaps one of the most straightforward award charts of all major hotel chains, as award nights cost 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per night for all hotels. As this is an extended-stay brand, it’ll likely fall on the lower end for award redemptions.

While it may not be the easiest to earn Wyndham Rewards points, you have several options, including staying at Wyndham-branded hotels, earning welcome bonuses and points through spending on co-branded Wyndham Rewards credit cards, and transferring points from Citi ThankYou Rewards or Capital One Miles.

Final Thoughts

While we knew ECHO was in Wyndham’s pipeline, today’s announcement gives a bit more insight into when we can expect these properties to open — and where. Extended-stay guests will surely appreciate more options to earn and redeem points, and we’re excited to see ECHO Suite’s development in the coming years!
