EDITION Hotels is one of the most eye-catching lifestyle hotel brands in the world. Masterminded by Ian Schrager, a world-renowned hotelier whose groundbreaking design concepts have been credited for literally creating the concept of a “boutique hotel,” these properties are among the most hyped hotels in the entire world.

Under the Marriott umbrella, this luxury hotel brand is strategically offered in some of the world’s most bustling cities and hottest destinations.

Launched in 2013, the brand has opted for a slow expansion approach, which speaks volumes about its methodical, balanced approach to operational expertise.

And since EDITION Hotels falls under Marriott Bonvoy, you can even redeem points for these superb masterpieces!

In this guide, we’ll show you the best EDITION Hotels you can book using points. Before diving into that, we’ll first illuminate everything about the brand and what it strives to offer.

Let’s get into it!

Everything You Need To Know About EDITION Hotels

If you’ve ever been to a couple of EDITION Hotels properties, you’ll immediately recognize a certain “aura” to them.

This isn’t by accident — EDITION Hotels exemplify a delicate balance between modern service, one-of-a-kind design elements, and impeccable amenities.

Let’s get into all things EDITION Hotels!

Innovative Authentic Design

EDITION Design
The Shanghai EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

EDITION Hotels are characterized by innovative, authentic designs. Once you’ve been to a few of these properties, you’d be able to recognize another one from a mile away!

Some of the signature design elements include wooden mahogany tones throughout, a warm edge lighting scheme, green nature accents, and cream interiors.

They just ooze sophisticated luxury!

While many think this design scheme to be plain with no color except different shades of cream and brown, it shows that there’s beauty in simplicity.

If you ask us, the neutral color scheme and botanical decor make for some of the best photo ops.

Anticipatory Luxury Service

EDITION Spa
The Spa at The Shanghai EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

One of Schrager’s goals in building EDITION Hotels’ brand vision was to make the property feel less like a boring hotel and more like a residential oasis with intimate facilities and spaces.

One of the ways that EDITION Hotels delivers on this residential feel is to have a concierge-like service that’s more anticipatory than reactive in nature. Instead of constantly looking for staff to help you and flagging people down, the employees are trained to provide superb service before you even know you need it!

Destination Nightlife and Bar Options

EDITION bar
The Lobby Bar at The London EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

EDITION Hotels often contain the hottest red-carpet destinations for food and drink — those who have been to The Times Square EDITION can certainly relate.

Popular even among locals, the nightlife and bar options are always bustling, which makes staying at one of these properties even more compelling. All EDITION Hotels are required to have a lobby bar and entertainment and/or rooftop venue, so you’re more or less guaranteed to enjoy this feature, whichever location you stay in.

Signature Restaurants

EDITION restaurant
The ANNEX Rooftop at The Abu Dhabi EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

With one-of-a-kind food and beverage offerings to complement its destination nightlife and bar options, you’ll quickly realize that all of the top facilities are offered under 1 roof.

At each hotel, these signature restaurants showcase the latest delicacies of the locality, ranging from hyper-local California produce in West Hollywood to innovative culinary South American delights in Miami Beach, and so much more.

All of these restaurants are helmed by acclaimed chefs regardless of which property you visit, including international superstars like Michelin-starred Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Tom Aikens, and John Fraser.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a culinary superteam like the one curated by EDITION Hotels.

Minimum Suites Mix

EDITION suites
Suites at The Miami Beach EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

EDITION Hotels is ushering in a new era of luxury lodging for the well-heeled traveler.

One of the brand requirements that all EDITION Hotels must adhere to is to commit at least 15% of its rooms to be suites. Furthermore, any layout rooms are to be considered premium rooms, not true suites.

Also, most of the rooms at EDITION Hotels are at least 400 square feet large.

Commitment to Fitness

EDITION gym

If you’re traveling, it’s often difficult to maintain the same workout routine you might have at home… but not at EDITION Hotels!

All properties have at least a 1,500-square-foot gym. Outfitted with the latest equipment from top-shelf brands like Technogym and Life Fitness, it’s easier than ever to stay in shape while traveling if you’re staying at an EDITION Hotel.

Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

Marriott Bonvoy is one of the most popular loyalty programs in the entire world. And it’s probably not a big surprise, considering how huge Marriott’s footprint is globally.

But you don’t necessarily need to be staying in hotels all the time to earn enough points for a stay at an EDITION Hotel — you can leverage credit card spending on everyday transactions to earn Marriott Bonvoy points quickly.

Marriott Bonvoy partners with 2 banks to issue co-branded credit cards: Chase and American Express. Here are our top picks:

The 10 Best EDITION Hotels Redemptions

We mentioned in the previous sections that EDITION Hotels are a much smaller portion of Marriott’s portfolio than, say, St. Regis. There are 2 main reasons why:

  1. The EDITION Hotels brand is newer and started in 2010 with its Honolulu property
  2. EDITION Hotels are generally more methodically planned to avoid any labels as being a “luxury factory”

Still, the EDITION Hotels concept is spreading like wildfire, with many hotel developers scrambling to build these high-octane locations around the world.

In this next section, we’ll show you in great detail the best EDITION Hotels you can book with points. We’ll walk you through each hotel’s entire list of facilities, room features, price points, and more.

By the end of this guide, you’ll be one of the foremost experts on EDITION Hotels!

Just a quick disclaimer on EDITION Hotels and why some points enthusiasts don’t typically seek these properties out:

  • Just like The Ritz-Carlton, you’re not entitled to breakfast every day as a Platinum or Titanium Elite, as the welcome amenity is fixed at 1,000 points per stay
  • Suite Night Awards are not redeemable at EDITION Hotels
  • The Marriott Bonvoy Member Rate offers a 2% discount all days of the week at EDITION Hotels, unlike the 2% discount on weekdays and up to 5% discount on weekends
  • You will not have complimentary enhanced internet access at EDITION Hotels, though free Wi-Fi is still a benefit

1. The Bodrum EDITION (Turkey)

The Bodrum EDITION
The Bodrum EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

Perched on a jaw-dropping hill overlooking the incredible Aegean Sea with panoramic views of Turkey’s Aegean Coast, The Bodrum EDITION is the most elite property in EDITION’s portfolio.

This property is less than 2 miles from Yalikavak Marina and mere minutes from top attractions like the historic Bodrum Castle and the Bodrum Amphitheatre.

Every standard room ranges from 452 to 624 square feet in size, including the 129- to 172-square-foot balcony. Many of the 108 rooms, suites, and villas m have Aegean Sea views, and some even have private pools, balconies, and gardens.

Within the room, you’ll find a king bed with Signature EDITION bedding, a bespoke entertainment system, free high-speed Wi-Fi, an in-wall LCD TV with surround sound, a fully-stocked minibar, twice-daily housekeeping, ergonomic work areas, garden views, and 24/7 room service.

Inside the full luxury marble bathroom is a deep-soaking bathtub, monsoon rain showerhead (because ordinary rain showerheads aren’t quite good enough), twin vanities, and EDITION-exclusive bath products by Le Labo.

Breakfast at Kitchen is included in all room rates at The Bodrum EDITION, which is an incredible benefit considering Marriott Bonvoy elite members aren’t entitled to free breakfast! It’s an absolute feast here, from artisanal espresso creations to fresh juices and a massive à la carte menu. You can literally eat to your heart’s content here!

There are 3 other dining options, including an open-fire grill and seafood restaurant, a poolside eatery, and a signature gastronomic restaurant.

You’ll also find a private beach area, infinity pool and garden lounge, 28-meter lap pool, and spa with a Turkish hammam, sauna, salon, Vitality Lounge, and 8 treatment rooms. The full gym is open 24/7 and offers unique activities like Pilates, yoga on a terrace, and even indoor bouldering and climbing!

Lastly, there’s nearly 13,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and boardroom.

The Bodrum EDITION costs 50,000-70,000 Marriott points per night on average, but the cost fluctuates throughout the year.

Hot Tip: If you’re lucky enough to find low cost availability, you can redeem a 50,000 points Marriott free night certificate here!

Room rates have plummeted during the low season to an all-time low of $300 per night, but if you stay here during the peak summer season, you’ll have to pay a whopping $2,000 per night here! On average, though, you’ll find room rates of around $800 per night, which makes this property an incredible use of your points.

3. The London EDITION (U.K.)

The London EDITION
The London EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

One of Soho’s most sophisticated properties, The London EDITION is a reinvented landmark building with all the city hotel perks you can dream of. It’s housed in a row of townhouses and is just a short 5-minute walk from the Tottenham Court Road tube station.

This Fitzrovia property offers some of the best dining and nightlife in the area — but its amazing rooms are reminiscent of a luxury yacht, with oak flooring and walnut wood wall panels.

At a minimum of 237-square-feet large, each soundproof room contains a cantilevered desk, signature furnishings like a tufted leather armchair, Frette linens, luxurious coffee and tea facilities, a flat-screen TV with premium channels, a minibar, and free Wi-Fi.

The luxurious bathroom is appointed with a backlit mirror, a floating marble vanity, a walk-in rainfall shower with a separate handheld shower wand, a lighted makeup mirror, a hairdryer, a pair of soft bathrobes, and comfortable slippers.

On the premises, you can choose from a Michelin-starred restaurant, a reservation-only cocktail bar, a lobby bar, or 24/7 room service.

The on-site gym is open 24/7 and has the latest Technogym machines. There’s also a business center and event space should you need it.

This acclaimed hotel costs 50,000-70,000 points per night on average, but the cost can fluctuate throughout the year.

Additionally, paid room rates start at around $460 per night including taxes and fees — on average, you’ll probably pay around $550 per night. However, during the highest season, cash rates can go all the way to $750+ per night.

4. The Miami Beach EDITION

The Miami Beach EDITION
The Miami Beach EDITION. Image Credit: EDITION Hotels

Admittedly one of the most popular hotels in Marriott’s entire portfolio, this design-forward boutique hotel on Collins Avenue is set along the Miami Beach Boardwalk and just a short 13-minute walk from the Bass Museum of Art. It’s similar walking distance to other popular Miami attractions like the Fillmore, Perez Art Museum Miami, and the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Each of the polished rooms is anywhere from 385 to 471 square feet in size. You’ll find plush bedding, a super-soft armchair and ottoman, a work desk, a flat-screen TV, plenty of power outlets, a minibar, free Wi-Fi, and more.

The posh marble bathroom features an enclosed rain shower, a single vanity, an oversized spa mirror, a hairdryer, plush robes, comfy slippers, and EDITION signature Le Labo amenities.

To replenish yourself, you can make your way to either one of 2 Jean-Georges restaurants, the alfresco casual eatery, cocktail bar, or lobby bar.

You can also top off your pampering experience at the spa, gym, or private beach (with towel service). The property also features 2 private pools with a tropical nook for barefoot cocktails and hammock-style afternoon naps. Lastly, you’ll find a shopping boutique, an abundance of event space, and a business center.

The Miami Beach EDITION is bookable with 70,000-100,00 points per night on average, but the cost can fluctuate throughout the year.

We would generally advise against redeeming points during off-peak dates because paid rates can be as low as $400 per night at this time. On average, paid stays usually go for $900 per night. But if you’re in Miami Beach during the high season, you’d have to shell out up to an astounding $2,200 per night with cash!
