Los Angeles is a destination with enviable weather that’s great to visit year-round. It’s a city at the center of the film and TV industry with a food scene that alone makes it worth a trip.
If you have never visited L.A., popular sites include the Griffith Observatory, the Lakers and Clippers basketball games, Venice Beach (one of the best beaches in the state), Santa Monica, live music venues, and upscale shopping in Beverly Hills along Rodeo Drive.
In this series, we have featured some of the most valuable redemptions across all the major hotel brands in New York City and Washington, D.C.
For Los Angeles, we’ve evaluated the major luxury hotels from Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, and Marriott and ranked the results based on a cents per point value that you should be able to receive during peak travel dates. It’s also important to consider what value we assign to each program’s points, as the cents per point redemption does not always showcase the overall value received.

Earn Hotel Points To Redeem in Los Angeles
Hollywood stars stay at some pretty luxe properties in L.A., but you don’t have to spend serious box office money to travel like a star. Earning hotel points makes these awesome redemptions possible, and we’ll show you how to start earning with each major hotel loyalty program.
World of Hyatt
The World of Hyatt Credit Card
The $95 annual fee World of Hyatt card is a game-changer hotel credit card and should be a strong consideration in our opinion. It’s great not only for Hyatt loyalists and road warriors but also for the infrequent traveler.
In addition to the signup bonus, cardmembers receive 1 free night at a Category 1-4 property after your cardmember anniversary. This benefit more than outweighs the annual fee.

Other Ways To Earn World of Hyatt Points
The most efficient way to earn Hyatt points is with the World of Hyatt card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points directly to Hyatt. The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve®, and Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card are the 3 Chase credit cards that earn Chase points directly with your spend.
Chase also allows you to convert the cash-back earned from the Chase Freedom® card (no longer open to new applicants), Chase Freedom Flex℠, Chase Freedom Unlimited®, Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, and Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card into Chase points. You need to be a Chase Ultimate Rewards cardholder to be able to make this conversion.
Marriott Bonvoy
Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards
Not only did Marriott Bonvoy revamp its award program, but it also performed a complete overhaul of its co-branded credit cards. American Express and Chase are the 2 financial institutions that issue Marriott credit cards.
Below are the co-branded credit cards offered by both issuers. There are several restrictions to which new cardmembers are eligible, so it’s helpful to research eligibility requirements before applying.
Bottom Line: The Chase 5/24 rule is important to keep in mind before applying for Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. Chase and Marriott’s business credit cards will not count towards your Chase 5/24 limit.
Marriott Bonvoy Award Chart
Marriott has dropped its award chart in favor of dynamic pricing, like Hilton and IHG>
Other Ways To Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points
The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is to put your spending on Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. 4 co-branded cards make it easy to earn the points that you need.
You can also transfer American Express and Chase Ultimate Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy. We do not recommend that you make this transfer and instead suggest that you transfer the points to high-value airline partners.
IHG Rewards
IHG Rewards Credit Cards
IHG has a limited number of credit card offerings resembling Hyatt. IHG currently offers 3 credit cards, both of which we will cover in detail below.
IHG Rewards Award Chart
Like Hilton Honors, IHG uses dynamic pricing, meaning the number of points per night will change depending on the date.
Other Ways To Earn IHG Rewards Points
Like Marriott, you can transfer Chase points directly to IHG to book an award stay. We do not recommend it as redeeming Chase points with Chase’s other more valuable partners results in a better return.
Hilton Honors
Hilton Honors Credit Cards
Hilton uses American Express as its issuer of co-branded credit cards. Each of these cards is geared towards the spending patterns of specific types of travelers.
Free weekend night certificates for a standard room are what Hilton credit cards are known for. When you redeem these types of certificates, you can easily offset the annual fee.
Cardmembers of the Hilton Aspire card receive a free weekend night certificate. You can also earn an additional free weekend night certificate after you spend $15,000 in a calendar year on the Hilton Surpass card or Hilton Business Amex card. It’s possible to earn 1 additional free weekend night certificate if you spend $45,000 in a calendar year on the Hilton Business Amex card.
Bottom Line: The Amex Hilton Honors credit card comparison guide is what we recommend for readers who want a deeper dive into Hilton credit cards. Everything you need to know about each card is covered in this article.
Hilton Honors Award Chart
The Hilton Honors program does not have an award chart. Instead, the program uses variable pricing; the number of points required will depend on the date.
The Points Explorer tool can make it easier to determine the number of Hilton points you’ll need to book a free night. Enter your destination in the Where do you want to go? search bar. Next, enter the number of points that you have in the How many Points per night are you working with? scroll bar. The website will then show you how many points you will need to book a hotel in that area.
Other Ways To Earn Hilton Honors Points
One of the most efficient ways to earn Hilton Honors points is to put your spending on its credit cards where you can earn between 3x and 14x in spending categories like airfare, grocery stores, Hilton purchases, and restaurants.
Hilton hotel stays, transferring American Express points to Hilton, or taking Lyft rides are other ways to pad your Hilton balance. We do not recommend transferring Amex points to Hilton but do recommend using Lyft to earn 3x points per $1 spent on rides.
