Every month Air France releases Promo Awards that allow travelers to book both business and economy class award tickets at a 25%-50% discount. These days, promo awards between the U.S. and Europe are rarely discounted at 50%, but 25% off an award is still a great deal.

It’s no surprise that Promo Awards are one of the best ways to use Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles.

With a 25% discount, instead of using 62,500 Flying Blue miles for a one-way business class flight, it will cost 46,875 miles. In economy class, the award cost is reduced from 25,000 miles to 18,750 miles for a one-way flight.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue’s June 2017 promo awards include flights from Boston, Chicago, and New York City (JFK).

Air France/KLM Flying Blue just released the June 2017 Promo Awards, and they include 3 American cities: Boston, Chicago, and New York City (JFK). The route from JFK is only eligible on flights to Paris-Orly (ORY).

To be eligible for the promotional rate, you must travel between August 1 and August 31, 2017 and book your travel between June 1 and June 30, 2017.

Promo Awards are already a great way to use Flying Blue miles, but booking these awards for peak travel season in Europe makes the deal even sweeter. Flying Blue award flights do incur carrier-imposed surcharges, but at these award rates it’s still an amazing deal.

To really maximize these Promo Awards, you can fly from Boston or Chicago to Israel, which is included in the European region of the Flying Blue award chart. This is, without a doubt, one of the best ways to fly to Israel.

Bottom Line: Air France/KLM’s Promo Awards are probably the best way to use Flying Blue miles. Flying business class to Israel or North Africa (both part of the European region) would make a stellar use of these awards.

For those who love flying business class, try to find award space out of Boston on one of Air France’s Boeing 777s. These flights have Air France’s best business class product, as each seat is lie-flat and has direct aisle access.

If you need Flying Blue miles to book an award with Air France, you have several options. You can transfer points to Flying Blue from all 4 transferable points programs: American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and SPG Starpoints.

Membership Rewards and Ultimate Rewards transfer almost instantly, while ThankYou Points take 1 day and SPG Starpoints can take two days.

With only a few routes available for this month’s Promo Awards, you’ll want to book right away—award space during a busy travel month like August will go quickly!

Don’t worry if you can’t find award space on the days you need or the timing doesn’t fit your schedule; there are new Promo Awards every month. You’ll also see more departure city options and increased award availability during off-peak travel months.
