Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card — Is It Worth It?

If you’re someone who values Marriott Bonvoy elite status, and you’re looking for a way to earn more Marriott Bonvoy points on your everyday purchases, then the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card could be worth it for you.

Thanks to its combination of bonus categories, you earn up to 18.5x points per $1 on your Marriott stays (6x points with your card, up to 10x points for being a Marriott Bonvoy member, and 2.5x points for Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status), along with a capped 4x points per $1 on dining worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $15,000 in combined purchases at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets per calendar year), plus 2x points per $1 on all other purchases.

Further, you’ll receive automatic Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status along with 15 Elite Night Credits each year to help you reach higher levels of elite status faster. You’ll also receive 1,000 bonus points on each of your paid stays, getting you one step closer to your next award booking.

Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Card Top Benefits

Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status

Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status is the second of 5 tiers in the Marriott Bonvoy program. Usually, it requires you to stay 25 nights per year to achieve this, but you’ll receive it as an automatic benefit of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card.

With it, you’ll receive perks like:

  • 25% bonus points on stays
  • Enhanced room upgrades (subject to availability)
  • 2 p.m. late checkout (subject to availability)
  • Points welcome bonus at check-in

15 Elite Night Credits

More on elite status, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card also offers 15 Elite Night Credits each year to help you reach higher levels of elite status faster.

For instance, Platinum Elite status, the next tier in the Marriott Bonvoy program, usually requires 50 nights each year, but thanks to the 15 Elite Night Credits from the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card you’d need to just stay 35 nights in a year to qualify for Platinum Elite status.

1,000 Points Per Stay

Cardholders will receive 1,000 bonus points on each paid stay, on top of the stands points you’ll earn for being a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member and paying with your card.

This might not feel like a meaningful amount if you only book a few Marriott stays each year, but for those who stay at Marriott hotels often, these extra points can add up.

Free Night Award

While this is not an automatic benefit of the card, and requires spending $15,000 on the card in a year to receive, it can be a valuable perk for those who do.

The Free Night Award can be redeemed at any Marriott hotel that costs up to 50,000 points per night, but Marriott allows you to top award certificates off with up to 15,000 points, allowing you to redeem for a reward night at a more expensive hotel.

Card Protections

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card offers the following protections to cardholders:

  • Trip Delay Insurance: If a round-trip flight, paid for with your card, is delayed by more than 12 hours, you can be reimbursed for up to $300 per trip towards covered expenses.
  • Baggage Insurance: If your baggage is lost, damaged, or stolen, you can receive up to $2,000 in coverage for checked baggage and up to a combined maximum of $3,000 for checked and carry-on baggage.
  • Rental Car Insurance: Receive secondary coverage when you decline the rental company’s coverage and pay for the rental with your card.
  • Purchase Protection: Items purchased with your card that are lost, damaged, or stolen within 90 days of purchase can receive up to $10,000 in coverage per occurrence and up to $50,000 in coverage per year.
  • Extended Warranty Coverage: Items purchased with your card with warranties of 5 years or less receive up to 1 additional year of coverage.

How To Earn and Redeem Marriott Bonvoy Points

While staying at Marriott hotels and putting purchases on your Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card are great ways to earn Marriott Bonvoy points, you should know that there are many other great ways to rack up Marriott Bonvoy points as well.

When you’re ready to redeem your points, your first inclination might be to find a great Marriott hotel redemption at one of the 7,000+ hotels in the portfolio. However, since Marriott Bonvoy points transfer to many airline partner programs, redeeming your Marriott Bonvoy points for flights can be a great option as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card worth it?

If you value having Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status, and you’ll spend $15,000 on the card in order to earn the Free Night Award, then the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card could be worth it for you.

Does the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card have an annual fee?

Yes, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card charges an annual fee of $250.

Does the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card have foreign transaction fees?

No, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card does not charge foreign transaction fees.

Which is better, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card?

They are functionally the same card, as they offer the same benefits and rewards earning. The only difference is that the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card is issued by American Express and the Marriott Bountiful card is issued by Chase.

Which is better, the Marriott Boundless card or the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card?

In our view, the Marriott Boundless card would be better suited for most consumers, as many will not find that the incremental benefits offered on the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy card are not worth the extra in annual fee, especially when you consider that arguably the most valuable card benefit, the free night award, requires you to spend $15,000 on the card to receive it.

Can you transfer Marriott Bonvoy points?

Yes, Marriott Bonvoy offers over 40 airline partners to which you can transfer your points. Many of these transfer at a 3:1 rate, but you can receive a 5,000 airline mile bonus when you transfer at least 60,000 points.
