American Express has just enhanced The Business Platinum® Card from American Express with new perks and improved earning rates that business owners should get excited about.

These changes come with a notable annual fee increase from $695 to up cc_id=”1614″ name=”amex-business-platinum-annual-fee-number”] (rates & fees), reflected immediately for new applicants. For existing cardholders, the $200 annual fee increase will take effect starting on cardmember anniversary dates on or after December 2, 2025.

We’re pleasantly surprised by the added benefits and value of the card — and the best part is that Amex hasn’t removed any of its perks for this refresh. Let’s take a look at everything that has changed.

Amex Business Platinum Card 2025 Refresh

Amex has just introduced changes to its top-tier cards: the Amex Business Platinum card and the Platinum Card® from American Express. The new benefits differ slightly, as the issuer continues to differentiate the 2 products for luxury consumers and high-spending business owners.

Here’s an overview of the new credits and benefits with the Amex Business Platinum card.

Up to $600 Hotel Credit With the Largest Selection of Global Hotels

The Amex Business Platinum card provides access to the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection portfolio, consisting of incredible luxury properties worldwide. Fine Hotels + Resorts stays can be just 1 night, while stays at The Hotel Collection must be at least 2 nights.

When booking specifically with the Fine Hotels + Resorts program, you’ll receive these incredible benefits as a guest:

  • Room upgrade upon arrival, when available
  • Daily breakfast for 2 people
  • Guaranteed 4 p.m. late checkout
  • Noon check-in, when available
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Unique property amenity, such as a spa or food and beverage credit valued at a minimum of $100

The personal version (Amex Platinum card) has long offered an annual statement credit to prepaid Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection reservations. Now, Amex is finally matching this excellent perk from the consumer card and bringing it to the Amex Business Platinum card.

You can now receive up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually — for up to a total of $600 in statement credits per calendar year — on prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings through AmexTravel.com when you pay with your Amex Business Platinum card.

Hot Tip:

The Fine Hotels + Resorts collection comprises 5-star hotels in major brands like Marriott and Hilton, such as St. Regis or Waldorf Astoria properties. However, thanks to this new annual hotel credit, you can save on luxury properties that have been traditionally more difficult to book with points, from Rosewood to Four Seasons.

Earn 2x Points on Eligible Purchases

Until now, the Amex Business Platinum card has offered the following earning rate: 5x points on flights and prepaid hotels booked on AmexTravel.com and 1.5x points on purchases of at least $5,000 or select business categories. These include U.S. construction material and hardware suppliers, electronic goods retailers and software and cloud system providers, and shipping providers. The 1.5x earnings were valid up to $2 million of these purchases per calendar year, then the earning rate dropped to 1x.

However, Amex has just improved the Membership Rewards earning potential. The Amex Business Platinum card now offers 2x points (instead of 1.5x points) on those eligible business purchases, up to $2 million combined per calendar year:

  • U.S. construction material and hardware suppliers
  • Electronic goods retailers and software and cloud system providers
  • Shipping providers
  • Eligible purchase of $5,000 or more

The ability to earn 2x points across diverse business purchases is a game-changer. This improved earning rate easily makes the Amex Business Platinum card the best for high-spending businesses, given that, unlike typical credit cards, it has no preset spending limit.**

**No Preset Spending Limit means your spending limit is flexible. Unlike a traditional card with a set limit, the amount you can spend adapts based on factors such as your purchase, payment, and credit history.

Hot Tip:

Upgraded Points values Amex Membership Rewards points at 2.2 cents apiece for travel redemptions, thanks to the program’s vast array of airline and hotel transfer partners. Earning 5x points is like earning 11% back on purchases, while earning 2x points is like earning 4.4% back.

Leaders Club Sterling Status From The Leading Hotels of the World®

If you love luxury travel, you’ll be excited by the new elite status level available with the Amex Business Platinum card. Upon enrollment, you can receive Leaders Club Sterling status from The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) — a global collection of independently owned luxury properties worldwide.

This is the only elite status level in this hotel loyalty program, and perks include 5 pre-arrival upgrade requests and 5% bonus points. The ability to get extra perks at renowned properties like The Greenwich Hotel in New York, Grace Bay Club in Turks & Caicos, and more is definitely a welcome addition to the Amex Business Platinum card.

Spend $250K+ per Year, Get Extra Benefits

The Amex Business Platinum card now comes with added incentives for business owners who spend over $250,000 on the card each calendar year. Upon reaching that threshold, you’ll be eligible to receive:

  • $1,200 in AmexTravel.com online flight statement credit
  • $2,400 in American Express One Accounts Payable (AP) statement credit

You’ll get these statement credits in the following calendar year after you reach the threshold. For example, if you reached $250,000 of annual spend in 2025, these 2 statement credits will be available to you between January 1 and December 31, 2026.

Final Thoughts

American Express tends to refresh its most premium cards roughly every 5 years, and the 2025 update to the Amex Business Platinum card is impressive. The card now delivers enhanced travel benefits alongside robust business-focused perks, all while offering strong rewards-earning potential and access to more airport lounges than any card it competes with.
