For years, discussions of the ANA Mileage Club program came with caveats like “great rates, but you must book round-trip awards, and that doesn’t work for everyone.” Now, that’s no longer the case.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced several changes earlier this year, including changes to award pricing and the ability to book one-way tickets using miles. At the time, neither of those changes had gone into effect.

Now that the changes are live, let’s take a look at the impact of booking one-way ANA award tickets using the new pricing.

ANA Mileage Club Changes in 2025

ANA Mileage Club announced several changes earlier this year, which included the ability to book one-way awards and price increases during the high season.

The increased cost (in miles) for awards during high-season periods was particularly onerous, as economy and premium economy awards went up by 31%. Meanwhile, first and business class saw prices jump by 50% during the most popular times of the year.

Low Season and Regular Season award prices didn’t see any increases with these announcements. It’s also important to note that High Season only covers about 2 months in a given year.

In a positive move, however, ANA announced the ability to book one-way awards when redeeming Mileage Club miles — on both ANA flights and partner airlines. This was a welcome announcement, increasing flexibility for travelers.

You’ll now see the option for “One way” at the top of the page when searching for award flights.

A Closer Look at One-Way ANA Awards

The ability to book one-way awards provides increased flexibility.

Maybe you only have enough ANA miles to book the outbound flight, and you’ll book the return flight using another award program. Maybe you don’t know your return date yet, but want to snag award seats while they’re available.

Whatever the reason, it’s great to see that you can book these awards online and pay half the price of a round-trip itinerary. (Some programs, such as Emirates Skywards, can charge more than half the round-trip price when booking a one-way ticket.)

For example, you can book a nonstop flight in ANA business class between Tokyo and Hong Kong for 26,500 miles per person — matching what ANA outlines in its award charts.

You can even book ANA first class using miles — using the new, increased pricing, unfortunately — for a one-way itinerary like this one between Tokyo and Honolulu (HNL). This High Season award previously cost 80,000 miles per person, but it’s now 120,000.

However, you don’t have to fly on ANA to book one-way awards with ANA miles. For example, you can fly from New York (JFK) to Frankfurt, Germany (FRA) on Singapore Airlines. You’ll pay 27,500 miles per person one-way in economy.

You can also fly between the U.S. and Europe in business class with a one-way award ticket, such as this TAP Portugal flight between Newark (EWR) and Lisbon (LIS).

With its award pricing, ANA Mileage Club is one of the best ways to book flights to Europe with points and miles. Now, it’s even more attractive, thanks to the ability to book one-way tickets.

Final Thoughts

The ability to book one-way award tickets with ANA Mileage Club is now live on ANA’s website. Unfortunately, this improved flexibility came with increased award pricing on many tickets. The changes apply to all flights booked using miles, whether you’re flying on ANA or one of its many partners.
