Arajet, the low-cost Dominican airline, launched its newest route today, flying between Orlando and Punta Cana. Rather than flying out of Orlando International Airport (MCO), Arajet is connecting the 2 cities by flying to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), and this is the only international route out of SFB.

Here’s what you need to know about this new route between Florida and the Dominican Republic, which took to the skies today.

Arajet Launches the Only International Flight From SFB

As of October 26, 2025, Arajet is operating nonstop service from Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). This is notable, as Arajet has become the only international carrier at the airport. This route was first announced back in May.

The year-round service will operate 3 times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays on the airline’s Boeing 737 MAX. This route was originally announced back on May 28.

With the new route, Arajet now serves 6 U.S. destinations: Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Miami (MIA), Newark (EWR), Orlando (SFB), and San Juan (SJU). The airline also is looking to expand in the U.S., with reports indicating up to 7 more destinations in the near future.

Interestingly, Arajet chose to launch flights at the much smaller Orlando Sanford Airport rather than Orlando International Airport. Orlando Sanford serves about 2.8 million passengers annually. Just 3 airlines serve the airport: Allegiant, Sun Country, and now Arajet

Had it chosen to fly from the bigger Orlando Airport — which serves approximately 57 million passengers annually — it would have faced stiff competition from other airlines. Airlines like JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, and Southwest Airlines already operate flights on the MCO-PUJ route.

Hot Tip:

Punta Cana serves as one of Arajet’s bases. That means you can use this new route to connect to other destinations in Central and South America. Arajet has a fast-growing route map that includes cities like Buenos Aires (EZE), Lima (LIM), Mexico City (MEX), and Santiago (SCL).

How To Book Arajet’s New Flights

Flights are now available on Arajet.com. We’re seeing flights starting at around $100 one-way, which is a pretty solid deal to the Caribbean.

Arajet is a low-cost airline. It’s able to keep costs low by passing on ancillary fees, such as baggage and seat selection, to its customers. The airline offers 3 fare types: Smart, Comfort, and Extra.

A Smart fare gets you little more than a personal item and the ability to check in online. A Comfort fare includes 1 personal item, online and airport check-in, a checked bag (up to 44 pounds), seat selection, and 1 flight change (you’ll have to pay the fare difference, if applicable). The most flexible fare is Extra, which includes all of the benefits of Comfort plus a carry-on bag, priority access, and 3 flight changes.

Final Thoughts

Arajet has launched flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport, bringing international service to the Orlando region’s smaller airport.

Flights are reasonably affordable, but be sure to review Arajet’s baggage policy before your flight.
