Chase Ultimate Rewards

Checking the Chase Sapphire Preferred card’s welcome offer history, this card’s welcome offer has typically been 60,000 bonus points. However, this time, the value is much higher, as eligible applicants can earn an impressive 100,000 bonus points for a limited time.

The minimum spending requirement is $5,000 in the first 3 months of account opening. After meeting the spending requirement, it will take 1-2 billing cycles for these points to reflect in your Chase Ultimate Rewards balance.

The timing of this welcome bonus offer couldn’t be more perfect if you plan on taking a vacation in the latter half of 2025. Chase Ultimate Rewards points are versatile for flights, hotels, and more. In fact, Upgraded Points estimates this welcome bonus offer to be worth a whopping $2,000, as Ultimate Rewards points are valued at approximately 2 cents apiece for travel redemptions.

Can You Get Another Chase Sapphire Preferred Card Welcome Offer?

Here’s the scoop: Even if you already have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you may be eligible for the welcome bonus offer (again). However, there are a couple of Chase application rules to familiarize yourself with.

First, Chase specifies that you cannot earn another welcome bonus offer on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® or Chase Sapphire Preferred card within 48 months — across both cards, meaning earning a bonus on one of these cards also impacts the other. However, if more than 4 years have passed since you last received a bonus on either card, you may be eligible for the new 100,000-point offer.

Lastly, Chase’s unwritten 5/24 rule means you’re unlikely to be approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card if you’ve opened 5 or more cards — from any issuer — within the previous 24 months.

So, to recap:

  • Your last welcome bonus offer on the Chase Sapphire Preferred card or Chase Sapphire Reserve card must have been earned more than 48 months ago.
  • You should have opened fewer than 5 credit cards (from any bank) in the past 24 months to maximize your chances of approval for a new Chase Sapphire Preferred card.

Furthermore, Chase permits only 1 Sapphire card per person at a time. If you meet both eligibility criteria, you could downgrade your Chase Sapphire Preferred card — to a card like the Chase Freedom Unlimited® — and then reapply for the card while the 100,000-point bonus is available.

Bottom Line:

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card delivers exceptional long-term value for travelers, offering over 20 benefits tailored for travel and lifestyle perks. This card earns 5x points per $1 spent on Chase Travel; 3x points on dining, select streaming services, and online groceries; 2x points on all other travel purchases; and 1x points on all other purchases.

Final Thoughts

The amazing 100,000-point offer has returned for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card — but not for long. If you’re eligible, now is the time to apply and take advantage of this generous welcome bonus offer. With unbeatable rewards and perks, it’s a must-have for travelers.
