Capital One is bringing back its only domestic airline transfer partner — a notable move after discontinuing the partnership with JetBlue in 2021.

Starting today, February 18, eligible Capital One cardholders can once again transfer their miles to JetBlue TrueBlue at a 5:3 ratio. Here’s what you need to know about Capital One’s renewed transfer partnership.

Capital One Miles Transfer to JetBlue TrueBlue (Once Again!)

Capital One introduced its transfer partner program in 2018, significantly enhancing the value of its credit card miles. Fast forward to today, cardholders have access to over 15 airline and loyalty programs for transferring their miles.

Over time, however, these partnerships often evolve — or even end. That was the case with JetBlue, which first joined Capital One’s transfer program in 2019 with a 2:1 ratio. The transfer rate later improved to 2:1.5, but the partnership ultimately ended in late 2021. This was a disappointing change since JetBlue TrueBlue was the only domestic airline transfer partner ever offered by Capital One.

Although no other U.S. airline stepped in to replace JetBlue in the Capital One miles program in the meantime, the carrier has now officially returned. This time, Capital One miles transfer to TrueBlue at a 5:3 ratio, meaning 5,000 Capital One miles convert to 3,000 TrueBlue points. Note that the previous transfer ratio provided 3,000 JetBlue points after transferring just 4,000 Capital One miles.

Do note, however, it usually takes in 1 to 5 days for miles to transfer to JetBlue, though it may take up to 15 days. However, many Capital One transfers to other partners are nearly instant.

Hot Tip:

You also can earn JetBlue TrueBlue points quickly by transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points or Citi ThankYou Points at a simple 1:1 ratio or American Express Membership Rewards points at a 1:0.8 ratio. Recent JetBlue TrueBlue Changes

Historically, there has been very limited opportunity to achieve outsized value for your TrueBlue points, as redemption values are often tied to the cash cost of the ticket. For that reason, Upgraded Points estimates the value of TrueBlue points to be approximately 1.3 cents apiece for award tickets on JetBlue.

The good news is that JetBlue’s outlook has taken a positive turn. The airline announced a reciprocal loyalty partnership with TAP Air Portugal and unveiled competitive redemption rates — starting at 19,000 points in economy and 59,000 points in business class.

JetBlue has also introduced point redemptions for Blue Basic fares, with some impressive deals, like a one-way flight from New York (JFK) to Washington, D.C. (DCA) for just 700 TrueBlue points. While basic economy tickets often come with restrictions, JetBlue still allows Blue Basic passengers to bring both a personal item and a carry-on bag onboard.

But that’s not all. The airline recently unveiled its first-ever premium credit card, the JetBlue Premier World Elite Mastercard®, which provides access to its inaugural airport lounges. However, these lounges won’t open until late 2025 or possibly 2026, and they will initially be available only at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS).

There are other compelling ways to redeem JetBlue TrueBlue points with its airline partners, such as business class fares on Qatar Airways from 70,000 points and Hawaiian Airlines from 40,000 points.

Final Thoughts

It’s great to see this revived partnership between JetBlue and Capital One. With more ways to redeem TrueBlue points than ever before, travelers can score cheap domestic tickets or leverage its airline partners to book affordable award flights.
