The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express are easily one of the most lucrative travel cards out there, offering perks like hotel elite status, statement credits, and airport lounge access (some require prior enrollment).

Both cards received a major refresh recently, and one of the best new benefits is an annual statement credit of up to $600 for prepaid nights at American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection properties.

Every calendar year, cardholders can receive up to $300 in statement credits semi-annually (January to June, and July to December). The Hotel Collection requires a 2-night minimum stay.

With that said, let’s dive into the 10 best ultra-luxe hotels you can book with this new credit.

Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts vs. The Hotel Collection

The Amex Platinum card and the Amex Business Platinum card are considered the best premium rewards cards, mostly because of the fantastic travel benefits, especially hotel benefits, included with both cards:

Both cardholders can book luxury hotels through AmexTravel.com in 2 ways. The first is the Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) program, which offers exclusive benefits at high-end properties worldwide, such as Waldorf Astoria, Park Hyatt, and The Ritz-Carlton:

The Hotel Collection is also available on AmexTravel.com and offers premium benefits on stays of at least 2 nights at select properties across the globe. Think of it as the little brother to the Fine Hotels + Resorts program. With a Hotel Collection booking, you’ll receive benefits such as:

  • $100 property credit towards eligible charges
  • Room upgrade at check-in, if available

How To Redeem the Up to $600 Prepaid Hotel Credit

This credit provides up to $600 in total value per calendar year, split into 2 semi-annual allotments of up to $300 each. Keep in mind that unused credits do not roll over.

You must use your Amex Platinum card or Amex Business Platinum card to book a prepaid hotel stay through AmexTravel.com at participating hotels in the Fine Hotels + Resorts or Hotel Collection programs. You don’t have to do anything but use your card, as the credit is applied automatically once the prepaid hotel rate is posted on your card.
